USB 3.1 & HDMI 2.0
#1
My Gateway sx2370-ur10p comes with 2 usb 3.0 ports(haven't tried them yet)
(don't really use usb ports,there's 11 on my pc & 2 I assume 2.0 on my Samsung un32eh5300 32" smart LED HDTV/MONITOR
My HD 6570 supports HDMI 1.4

Is it true that all hdmi ports are the same? that only the cable version matters? A samsung rep
told me so which I think is incorrect. I don't think an old CRT hdtv with old hdmi ports like 1.0 can
use or fully use hdmi 1.4 or 2.0 the official hdmi site says the features are on the hdmi chip and
most likely can't be upgraded

Does anyone know if I can use a HiGH SPEED hdmi cable 1.3,1.4 or 2.0 cable on my smart tv & PC?
Will the color depth be better/higher? Will the sound or picture look/sound better?
ATM I'm using an oem hdmi cable i assume 1.3 standard 6 feet that came with my p2770hd
what does more bandwidth mean? Besides higher resolutions. My color depth
should be 24. I think it doesn't say on the tv. Not all tvs tell you that signal information

the TV doesnt use color depth as a way to determine quality. Also, what's your question about USb 3.0 (3.1?) anyways?

Also, I dont think the color depth was the missing thing in older HDMI cables. Sound wasnt added until 1.2 or 1.3 I think

A cable is nothing more than a bunch of copper wires with connectors on each end.

The ratings are just about how much bandwidth they can pass at minimum without degradation. As long as you aren't exceeding that minimum, you should have no performance issues.

I have this cat that loves to chew on the bristles of my broom. I have no idea why. She is just strange like that. So is my refrigerator, but it keeps my beer cold, so I'm OK with that.

I'm not sure if I answered your question or not, because I don't know what it is.

The answers to all of your issues rest in 2 things:

just wanted more info from users who have used the latest versions of HDMI & USB
for example If I bought a HiGH SPEED hdmi cable would the color depth of my display be better/higher?
Will the sound or picture look/sound better?
I play pc games at 1920x1080p 16x AA 16X AF MAX SETTINGS 60 HZ 32 bit color
so wouldn't a tv signal @ 32 or 64 bit look better?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_depth

hmmm I thought HDMI always ported audio, anyway anyone use display port?
isn't display port supposed to be better than HDMI?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort

Ive only used usb 3.0 once on my sisters laptop on a 32 gb 3.0 flash drive
(I prefer using fast micro sd cards such as class 10 or higher than flash drives)
The reading/writing speed is better than 2.0

generally which is faster at their current maximum specification:
the fastest micro sd card to date or the fastest usb flash drive to date?

As far as HDMI cables go, unless you have alien ultra vision or something, you won't be able to tell the difference between one cable or another as far as quality goes. If one cable can connect and display your media, which virtually all cables should be able to do, it doesn't matter. It is mostly a marketing ploy I think. Charging $50 for a 'premium' cable instead of $5 for a cable that does the same thing. Bollocks as my english friends say. I've used a few different ones and they all look the same to me.

I may be totally wrong, but unless my eyesight is failing, it doesn't matter.

You should read the articles you link to.

DisplayPort and HDMI are not compatible.

Some video cards are capable of detecting when DVI or HDMI displays are plugged in and switch their output accordingly. So while you may have plugged a HDMI display into a DisplayPort, it is still just an HDMI signal.

You are not wrong.

I already said it earlier. If the currently installed cables are capable of managing the bandwidth, higher rated cables won't make a difference, except in your wallet.

You can use Cat6 cable for telephone wires, but it won't make your phone calls sound better.

IDK generally more bandwidth is good so a true high speed HDMI cable is/will technically provide better quality in sound & video
*obviously I don't know unless I purchase one & see for myself & measure the bandwidth coming from the cable....if that's anyway possible anyone know?
like how you measure power supplies or batteries

I glanced through the articles,I want to hear real user experience
display port provides slightly more bandwidth than HDMI

I'm not sure how you rationalize all this in your head, but whatever your thought process is, you are doing it wrong.

A cable is passive. It doesn't do anything but move signal from one end to the other. A cable that is rated for more bandwidth simply means it can transmit higher frequencies from one end to the other with less attenuation than a lower rated cable of the same length. If you honestly believe just using a better cable will automatically make for better quality sound and video than you are every marketing department's wet dream. Go give them your money.

If you want to genuinely test the cable, go get yourself an oscilloscope and compare the waveform going in to the one coming out.

Which is only relevant if the display also supports DisplayPort. The article you linked to explains this.

Why do you ask questions if you are just going to dismiss the answers? You are like some kind of inquisitive troll.

that reminds me of my virtual memory thread Tongue
But then, most of the answers I got wasn't relevant to my case, and articles posted where +6 old.
