are you a pirate just to save a few bucks ?? or is it your ideology
#1
in the age of on demand/flat rate streaming of virtually every movie or music title dirt cheap.

what motivates you to spend such efforts, time and money to pirate stuff?? or keep the community alive??

why are you doing it? what is your ideology?
and like my gullible teacher used to say “there are no wrong answers

i for once think all music should be free and accessible.
because in the end we all profit more if everyone can enjoy everything.
and yes even if you are musician you probably listen to more music than you create.
if musicians would only earn money from live performances they would still do pretty well. this goes from rockstar to jazz student.
this utopian model might work for musicians but maybe not for other medias like movies.

most of the times .... I want to try before supporting something.

Sometimes its to 'punish' the money hungry behaviours of publishers. Like tv shows taken off streaming and put onto subscription only/ paywall. For example, wantend to catch up on The Good Doctor the other day, apparently they put in pilot then ep4 onwards. so how am i supposed to catch up ep 2 3 ? Wanted to support them by watching advertisements etc. Apparently they dont want my support. Another example - the blacklist. They took that off from Hulu and put on NBCs really really shitty player. They can go f themselves.

I don't participate in this sort of thing. I would rather to be thought of as a mystery.

there should be an option to reply to a post anonymously..
or you can just pm me. i'm really interested about different angles. different ideologies
i'm writing a short essay for university (3rd year bachelor media interaction design) about "the balance of cost/time effort for the pirate vs cost of the pirated content."
this balance has greatly shifted thanks to Netflix and sorts. and suddenly all those wild calculations of missing profits for the industries are completely bogus.
the maximum damage a pirate can do now a day is 15$ a month. (netflix & apple music or similar)
i'm not really a behavioral scientist but my prof thinks its an interesting angle.
