That's rather silly. It looks good on your shelf? Really?

I can understand someone wanting to buy something to support the maker, but really? It looks good?

Well you asked: why pay if you can get it for free?

My answer is an answer, not the answer: you get a bonus.

Buying to support the maker is another answer, not the answer either.

EDIT: If you don't get it, it's to do with instincts of materialism. Obviously, you don't have it, so you're lucky.

EDIT: To other people who still don't get my point: when was the last time that you bought a Special Edition Blu Ray disc of your favourite movie? And why did you do it other than the fact that you want to support the content makers?

I download games and movies because it's more convenient than all the DRM/anti-piracy bullshit integrated into products and don't like to be stalked by companies that can see how much you play, at what hour and with him by using steam client or other similar anti-privacy crap.

I upload because I see torrents / Internet as my backup disk.

For small percentage of money I would pay for one game/movie I can buy seedbox and VPN for a whole month, TPB is free and has much better support than paid company people, Seems a great deal for me.
Until companies don't make a better deal (cheaper and without privacy infringement), I'm not going anywhere.

joew771, it's "what," not "whut."

Secondly I guess threads like this will die a slow death anyways.

We know who we are because we know what we've done.

OK, I'm going to give up talking.

No it's whut.

And whut were you trying to say in that post? It didn't make any sense to me. The answer is not the answer, but the answer is another answer, but it is. Or something.

All I was trying to say was that sometimes when you buy a movie, it might be a special edition or a director's cut. In terms of that, I can see why people will shell out their hard-earned money instead of using the free, illegal route. Would you do that?

That was all I was saying.

And it's "what."

OK, I said I'll bow out of this conversation, so I will. Adios.

Technology keeps changing.

With movies I used to own VHS tapes of a lot of movies. Then they were replaced by DVDs so I bought a lot of DVDs. Then they were replaced with BluRays. Who knows what will be next.

With music I own records and cassettes and CDs.

It is getting too expensive to keep replacing stuff. How many times must I buy the same movie or album?

People still buy plastic discs? I never bothered to buy a blu-ray player. Rather spend money on high quality audio equipment.  You can download a REMUX which is the video content of the blu-ray disc without any loss in quality. I have old CD's from the 1990s and new vinyls on my shelf looking sweet. Smile
