USB Ports on Routers
#1
These days, I've seen a lot of routers sporting USB and E-Sata ports on the back. What are they for?

I did some checking and learned that it's for printer or external hard drive use. Would that be so that all computers in the network can be given equal use to printers and external hard drives?

Would it be as if all the computers on the network can print on the USB printer as if the printer is connected to all the computers in the network without hassles?

In the old days, the computer connected to the printer would need to be on in order for the other computers to use the printer. Would the new USB-featured router replace the old way?

I would like that cleared up, thank you.
