Oh, Robert, I forgot to tell you.
I torrented the newest Star Trek from the movies, with the new cast. I HATED it. They would be awesome if they were a new crew, but since they are resurrecting already well established characters, I just couldn't get into it.
Women in lead roles is cool as hell. I love Captain (actually, now admiral Janeway).
Discovery, eh, looking forward to checking it out.

The american tv network H&I recently started showing all 5 of the Star Trek shows from their premiers onwards FYI.
The best single Star Trek episode IMHO is 'The Inner Light' from TNG. I'll fistfight anyone who disagrees with me. That was probably the best single episode of any tv show I've ever seen. I showed it to my parents who had never seen one episode of Star Trek and they loved it. Best thing ever on television if you ask me.

Fist-fight with one of my former friends.
He said that it sucks, probably because of no Romulan ship uncloaking to fight the Enterprise.
Other than that, it's cool.
I did like the Ressikan Flute scene at the end.
EDIT: Susan, what is the state of the Star Trek remake movies now that Leonard Nimoy and Anton Yelchin are gone?

"The trouble with tribbles" from original series is quite cute.
Hope they make something funny as this in new series as well.

I liked Parallels, where Worf shifts from one parallel universe to another, with only him knowing the difference.
I also liked First Contact and Best of Both Worlds. They bring out the fight for life or death struggle for the Star Trek universe.
On DS9, it's hard to say which episode that I most-liked, because they're all linked tightly like a metallic chain.

Not that I'm afraid to get into a fistfight, but I'l lagree as far as a story writing standpoint, that is also in my top 5. PLUS, subsequent episodes show him playing his flute, which I found as a " Soprano-essque" (another LZA made up word) type of charm.
So many great ones from TNG I can't name a favorite, but I'll agree with you there... You almost think Picard has some sort of regret that he was woken up... you know, like he misses his new family.

I believe they can make epic episodes. They just have to think and write... This question was posed and people said nothing can beat the original, until TNG came around... I hope they make something BETTER than the original,,, trust me, I'll have an open mind with no premade reservations, like this new star trek.
I think the sucess is with new people, new crews. Kirk . spock has been done... Anything else tarnishes the original... And this "prequel "star trek when they are all youn is NOT, I repeat NOT coming off how the prequel of Star WARS came off, since it was when they were younger, but tied up into the later episodes , ya know.
It's almost like they same characters in a different life...

Anything with Data. I love the first one with Lore. I actually like Riker too. He seems like he would be a cool boss...i FUCKING HATE, the borg....

To be honest, I am prepared to be disappointed about the new series.
Since the release of Star Trek Enterprise, it seems that all that's been done is to go back in the past.
They did it in Enterprise, they did it in the last three movies, and they're doing it again.
Sci-fi is meant to talk about the future, not go backwards in the past, at least that is my opinion.
I'll judge when I see it, but I am not too optimistic.

Edit Reason: Shatner Vs Pine in "Battle of the Kirks" UFC 1701
)
Even though it's in the past in their time, it's still in the future as far as our standpoint.
I don't mind going back in the past ... Godfather did that brilliantly in part 2. BUT what I hate, is taking our beloved characters (Kirk, Spock, etc) and giving them new twists on their personalities... This new Kirk may be good in some people's eyes, but he'll never be like the original..
Imagine if this new star trek brings TNG stars back to their past??? All it will do is make me lose respect for the character by them sullying the good reputation and mystique they succeeded in building in the original show... If they did it in a way, say... we saw Picard's wild side, or data when he's not as developed that would be OK, because they are keeping true to their essence. ... But what the new ST did was wipe the original personalities clean from the characters. for that, I hope they do NOT, live long and prosper...
