True, a formula that has worked well for then with American Dad and Family guy... But if they are trying to be serious, maybe they can let up a little.

I enjoy it since McFarlane graduated the same year as me. His references are things I remember clearly since I grew up with those same references, so I don;t mind them as much.

I was an Original Star Trek fan. I was a ST Next Gen. Fan! Didn't care for the other ST series.
I was a Star Trek movie fan.

Star Wars...meh...the first couple were good. But they got too serious & the war theme got old.

ST Discovery - The first season started good, but it, too, became too serious & war mongering for me. If the second season didn't lighten-up & get back to "trekking" rather than "warring" they would lose me.
Fortunately, they did and it's decent.

The Orville - out of 5 stars ->*****  Yes, it's a parody of Star Trek. But they've done it a comedic way that has hooked me.
Of course, Men In Black is one of my all time faves, so sci-fi, space, & comedy all in one & I'm in heaven.  Shy Cool

I thought it was gonna be a farce and a complete parody ala Mad magazine and would only be blip that disappeared. But it started taking itself serious enough to become interesting at least enough to continue. Not how I expected it to play maybe they will get a few years out of it. I know that if i see it on I dont auto change the channel. And it can surprise. Seth better watch out he may become a dramatic actor.
