Topgfx was my first. But left it long time ago when I found better alternatives that were free and had better sharing websites.

What currently sharing websites are used at Topgfx? The top most "Z Summer Mood" is still behind a paywall it seems.

Ah, is that why I can't open it? It said something like Mega-Leech and I was like - "wtf, I haven't downloaded anything yet and I'm already mega-leecher...".
Nah, paying for warez is not my thing. Better give my money to the creators of the content.

Yep, pretty silly concept - even though some may argue that its not as much that you have to pay. Guess it works for some Smile

The VIP site at TopGFX is just for Private Sharing, the join fee ONLY goes towards Server Bandwidth. You can join for as short as 1 month up to a full year, and after your plan Expires you still have access to the VIP site for Life, renewals are NOT Automatic, 2 weeks before expiration you will receive an email regarding renewing. The VIPs buy their own stuff, usually new releases and share it between themselves, teaser posts are put up on TopGFX in order to generate interest in the VIP Site. We also have our own File Host, but any file host that allows free links can be used on TopGFX & the VIP Site as well.

File hosts are the choice of the uploader, but include DepoFile, DepositFile, Oload, MEGA, MediaFire, File.Al, Uploaded.net/ul.to, Rapidgator/rg.to, ZippyShare and many, many more. For linking images to posts we have PxImg as a preferred site, they were started by a former KAT SuperMod and are Pirate Friendly.

Skyback's been my go-to for some time. I keep expecting to look for something there and not find it, then go to another sharing site to find they have it. But it's only happened once or twice so far.

Always loved this "Server Bandwidth" explanation. Care to give us a rough frame of how much does this bandwidth costs?
Every time I see sites asking for cash there is never a final goal. Just "give us money, we'll decide when (if ever) is enough".
Don't get me wrong, I ain't judging you, I'm just curious.

Let's see if I can help...IF I am correct here... Generally you have a server where your website is hosted, which can be locally or overseas somewhere. That costs money, and the more space you need on that server also costs money. As for Bandwidth, it's a traffic thing. Ever hear how a website got so much traffic it flooded the server or crashed the site? Plus, if you happen to host files anywhere and download them via a private server= cash. Websites are not free. Even to have your own domain name etc., costs money. Ever see an ad for something like GoDaddy or whatever? Or see a website that has been "parked"? Or maybe land on a dead website and see an ad that "this domain" or "this domain name" is up for sale or open for purchase, see so-and-so's website for details?

In order to run and maintain a website, even one as simple as a forum, it costs money. How much depends on hardware firewall, security, maintenance, location, tax, traffic, how large the website is, how much storage you want/need, and things of that nature.

Anyone who says "bandwidth is a moot point" is only considering speed, because everyone has broadband now for the most part, or so their theory goes. Maybe "bandwidth" isn't the proper terminology, but for the most part it has been interchangeable with that terminology for the last decade and a half, so some people are simply nit-pickers.

I used to help run a V-Bulletin- based, overseas/off-shore server website that for the most part looked like this forum right here...except we also hosted these tiny files called "bins", and pdf guides, and minor stuff like that...and the website also had games, live chat, and other little perks that our tech guru added in, as he was a decent programmer and a wiz with V-Bulletin. It all cost money, and although originally everything was free, we did end up having to run on donations to keep everything running and running smoothly.

As to cost, well- like I said it can vary, and if nobody is donating or buying a membership (and don't forget, on that site it's really like a 1-time donation, as you still have VIP access whether or not you choose to renew), well, that money can run out quickly, and then it all comes out of somebody's pocket, and eventually the site goes down because they can't afford to keep funding it.
