You just called me a fool? I guess anonymity is assured on this type of forum so name calling is safe. I obviously dont understand alot about VPNs or I wouldnt have asked questions here. I'm surprised the moderators allowed that.
I can only imagine how tough you are in dealings with people in real life

edited Aug 30, 2015 16:58 pm this post because:

I have already told everyone to cut the name calling.

If you troll your own thread again, by ignoring your questions and beginning brand new discussions on people's behavior, I'll consider this thread over and close it.

Pia can't turn you in. That's the bottom line

PIA can/will react to copyright infringement.

Below are excerpts of the privacy policy/DMCA policy:

"PrivateInternetAccess.com does not condone the use of our service to facilitate copyright infringement. We respect and abide by U.S. copyright laws including the requirements of the DMCA and rely on our users to do the same."

"That being said, PrivateInternetAccess.com will do its best to assist copyright owners and their agents that report copyright infringement by a user that is using our services to the extent we can"

"Please be aware that pursuant to 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material or activity is infringing or that that material or activity was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, shall be liable for any damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees, incurred by the alleged infringer, by any copyright owner or copyright owner’s authorized licensee, or by a service provider, who is injured by such misrepresentation, as the result of the service provider relying upon such misrepresentation in removing or disabling access to the material or activity claimed to be infringing, or in replacing the removed material or ceasing to disable access to it."

Joker, I haven't used a VPN, but I'll try to be as cautious as possible in my wording. However, bear with me.

It's been my observation, that if something is too famous, chances are that it will fail its reputation, and get away with it, a couple of times. A fine example would be Microsoft.

Don't you think that the PIA doesn't know that and is trying to shake loose some of the "fame" by putting that description to tell users to not use it for piracy? Not every company has a set of balls like Bruce Lee's, and I think that PIA is trying to choose its own battles, even if they know that everyone uses their services for piracy. What I'm saying is, I think PIA is trying to make money, but, at the same time, it's also trying to not get in trouble while doing it. It's saying "do it, but don't tell us."

Would Hulk Hogan drop the "N" bomb if he knew that the guy he was cussing at was taping his conversation?

Pia can't turn anyone in because they don't have any logs.  Period

PIA, to date, and as far as my activity and usage on it's service is related, will NOT give up any information on it's users - and Ive been with them for almost 3 years now and I run 2 Home seedbox servers with around 98% up-time - as they continuously state in interviews and in their statement to any potential customers that there would be no information to give.
SEE: https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pa...cy-policy/

What Joker is putting up is not the Privacy policy (see my above link), but the DMCA policy only, even though he is falsely trying to connect the two.
What he leaves out of his quotes is this statement in the DMCA policy:
Quote:Upon receipt of your DMCA takedown notice, we will make reasonable attempts to assist you if we can, recognizing that our system is designed to maximize users privacy and that we maintain no logs tracking our users’ activities. If a notice lacks any of the aforementioned necessary elements, it may be deemed an invalid notice and PrivateInternetAccess.com will not attempt to investigate it.

See full policy here: https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pages/dmca-policy

The above 2 posters (RobertX & jessewest) are correct in my view and opinion, PIA is making a statement that will deflect any accusations of accommodating or condoning so-called 'illegal' activities.

Impossible to get dmca notice if no logs are kept

False - Every VPN keep logs, but PIA only has little/none information about what you do. However, your real activity can be exposed by the thing you do the most, torrent. Its like this, someone from CEG-TEK/NSA joins a torrent swarm (of popular torrents movies, games, music etc.), and logs everybody IP address. You also happen to be downloading/seeding, and get your IP logged as well. Then, they trace your IP back to a PIA server. Afterwards, the long process of issuing a notice begins, and you get a letter in the next 3-12 months.

Every now and then, there will be a post on Reddit, by a user who, despite using PIA, recieves a DMCA notice/subpoena. Uploaders seem to get the most notices, based on the reports on Reddit.

PIA will crack down on users who violate their TOS, you can't say they won't.

EDIT: OP, if your going to stay with your PIA, at least change ISP.

Y'all be drifting off topic.

OP says they got the notice from their ISP, not PIA.

So the problem isn't the VPN, but the lack thereof.

And, really, it isn't a problem at all as the letter is nothing more than a notice.  It is unlikely anything more will come of it.

PIA is a popular service for a good reason.  If they had a habit of turning in their users, they wouldn't be where they are.

Bottom line as far as this thread is concerned, check that the VPN is properly configured and active, and there shouldn't be any more free toilet paper coming in the future.

EDIT: I was going to say something, but after catching sight of Moe's post, I'll edit it out. And no, I'm not trying to post-whore.
