My Buffalo USB SSD stick is really hot
#1
Hey guys, there's some talk about SSDs getting hot during use, but mine is too hot; can't hold it until cool down a few seconds.

I removed the plastic case and let it breathe, but either it just allowed me to feel the warmth inside, or made things worse. Speccy (Smart) said it was 55C before, now it's 72C.
Now I don't believe the ABS plastic shell will help thermals, and the two small aluminium blades connected by (what seems to be) a thermal tape don't look very effective.

It's a very generic 512 GB Buffalo USB 3 from Japan. Shell is boxy (rectangular) with a sliding latch for the usb to come out, and it's so bulky it blocks the neighbouring port.

I know the name is just a brand for many different cheap manufacturers, but my external HDD units are good enough, so I supposed this could be too.
Maybe I got a defective unit or this model is just really bad? Are all SSDs (at least in USB form) so hot?
