Idk what all you people are arguing about, but the question the OP asked is answered by what I said before. A dead person is immediately sent to heaven or hell. According to the Christian bible. Which is what I think we were talking about. Not sure what the debate is about.

Not sure either. I agree there is an "immediate" going to someplace, I don't believe in a hell. Purgatory maybe?
Since I am someone known to post off topic, I want to be extra careful here.
Is it just the question just what JoeW says as what happens immediately after you die. do you go to hevean or hell.
or do you wait until Judgement day, so say, George Washington, all your heros, good people, killed babies, victims, of all this badness are NOT in heaven yet because he's waiting for judgement day????
Some would say no, that's inexcusable, too much time for those beings that really deserve heaven to get there.... BUT Lets' face it guys., the universe is infinite, and gods time is superinfinity, so this few hundred years is a mere drop in the bucket of what's to come? Am I making sense?? when I get gritty with religion, I tend to go all over the place, so reel be back in if I'm not making sense to you...
So, if I am to understand the question, is god holding all of those that died until the supposed "judgement day???" I say No. My god is not a cruel god and will let himself rest (his children) rest , and do what they want to be happy) waiting is not happy. Therefore, I can't see it Hope I didn't fall off topic too much

Unless the OP tried to start some sort of philosophical debate, I'll just repeat for the 3rd time, you go to heaven or hell instantly. That's just how it is for christians. Stop trying to start an argument that doesn't exist.

The Eastern Orthodox branch of Christianity has no dogma on hell, and many of its major theologians are of the opinion that hell is a state of self-made separation from their God--so something that happens to an extent during life, as well. And Jehovah's Witnesses (who count as a Christian denomination), believe there isn't any hell.
I'm not trying to split hairs. While Roman Catholicism and mainstream Protestantism have plenty of numbers, so does Eastern Orthodoxy. And the OP didn't specify numbers as a defining factor in this. They just wanted to know what "Christians" believed about the issue. The problem lies in defining Christianity as a single, united entity, when despite its presentation by some religious leaders as such, there are plenty of issues where their views are widely divergent.

I was trying to start a discussion, not a debate/argument.
Big difference.

True. I'm just trying to answer your question: that it isn't an either/or. It's like an alien asking someone, "Do humans live in apartments, or condos?" when humans live as well in huts, single-family owned homes, commune buildings, etc.
You've asked an honest question, and it's deserving of a thorough, dispassionate response.

Maybe I misunderstood the question. I don't want an argument or debate, but the way see it , it's all grey... There are no black and white answers for questions like these, nor should there be. What happens after you die is a phenomenon, and no ones gonna know anytime soon how it goes.. The bible is written by man, and could be considered a book of art. I'm sure not all things happened in the bible (or any other religious creation from any other faith.) i'm tryiny my best to answer your question to my understanding. I hope this helps!

You've tried very hard, LZA, but all I want to know is what Christians believe when you die vs. the Day of Judgement.
I'll read the Bible again; I have one.

the in between then, once your psychical body dies it turns to dust, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. the material partis the spirit, which then goes back to god. the father
