What’s not going to change in the next 10 years?
#1
Came across this a couple of days ago:

Quote:“What do you think is going to change in the next ten years?”

That is a question that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos gets all the time. He thinks that is an interesting question, but not the best one people could ask.

“I almost never get the question: ‘What’s not going to change in the next 10 years?’” said Bezos in an interview with venture capitalist Bill Gurley. “And I submit to you that that second question is actually the more important of the two, because you can build a business strategy around the things that are stable in time…..In our retail business, we know that customers want low prices, and I know that’s going to be true 10 years from now. They want fast delivery; they want vast selection. It’s impossible to imagine a future 10 years from now where a customer comes up and says, ‘Jeff, I love Amazon; I just wish the prices were a little higher,’ [or] ‘I love Amazon; I just wish you’d deliver a little more slowly.’ Impossible.”

As a result, Amazon invests its’ time, energy and finances into the things that won’t be changing, instead of worrying about or trying to predict the things that are changing. It’s a sound strategy that has paid off handsomely for Amazon.

I think he's right, it really is a good question.

I doubt TPB (or trackers) will exist in 10 years but I do think filesharing (in general) and the bittorrent protocol (specifically) will still be. You cannot change human nature, and you can't get more efficient than using both the upload and download bandwidth of multiple devices to share files (which will become ever larger).

What do you think will be the same? Either in our niche or in the world at large?

Trackers shouldn't exist now. TBP will still exist. It's one of the few sites that have managed to skitter around and avoid being shut down. I'm sure they'll keep doing that.

I think phones will not change very much. We are close to the limit of what they can do already. Maybe a little faster, but that's about it.

Also, TV won't change much. It will still be filled with nonsense reality shows and not worth watching.

Movies will be about 50% rehashed crap and remakes like they are now.

And I'll still be super interesting and awesome, not to mention handsome. And humble.

Rapists, killers, and movie reboots.

Seriously, who needs another Star Trek 23rd Century back story?

Well, 10 years ago someone said the same as you. Now we got smartphones with 2 cameras, waterproof, etc etc.
Technology is always in evolution. Evolution will never stop, even if you think smartphones are on the edge of the evolution (they are, right now. not in 2 years).

Someone may have said that 10 years ago, but I didn't. I'm talking about the next 10 years and in 10 years phones will be about the same. I will bet 1,000,000 phones.

The new tv thing is ultra hd. In 10 years it will be the same as it is now. No cable or sattelites will offer it. They will offer it eventually, but not for at least 15-20 years imho. That's about how long it took for them to put regular hd into practice.
