Hello everyone 
I was wondering if Daz Studio 4.9 can be used with downloaded torrents? I have Daz Studio 4.8 right now and it works fine, but I know that 4.9 is different.
There is this on TPB:

That comes with a keygen to activate it, but after that, can you add downloaded models from torrents and add them to 4.9 without worry? (stopping 4.9 from accessing the internet of course) Of does 4.9 "have" to be online to work or something?

The "new" thing in DS 4.9 is the ability to use DAZ Connect to get your content. It is purely optional and only needed if you want to use it for the encrypted content. You do not have to be online at any time otherwise, just refuse the login request and never show it again. The DIM format is not used directly by D|S, it is handled by Install Manager, is still supported and is unlikely to go away any time soon. Content installed by DIM (or manually) is separate from anything installed by DAZ Connect and are not interchangeable.
As for the program itself, you won't need a new activation code if you had a valid one before and install over the previous version (always beware of keygens).

I recommend that you install the new version into a different directory (you can still use the same content in the same directory) so that you can make sure it works properly for you. Leave the old one in place as a fall back, just-in-case.
Keep the old installer too in case you need to go back to it (it does happen on occasion). Daz only offers the most current version for download and goes hysterical if you ask for an older version.
For content, come on over to https://zonegfx.com/blog/
These download sites have taken over the distribution of content since the collapse of KAT. None of the torrent sites are showing much traffic anymore. There's a bit of a community there and I'm sure it will grow. The nice thing about using a small file sharing site like this is that it flies under the radar of the big content distributors like the MPAA and RIAA. When (not if) The Pirate Bay and Demonoid et all get taken down, we'll be safe (fingers crossed) in our little corner of the net.
You'll also notice that uploads are clean. The four torrents posted here today are all viruses. They're easy to spot but might suck in someone with less experience.

@ThunderHerd thats the only difference? I thought they had some sort of updated render system or something like that?
Im a member of Daz site, but its been a long time since I logged in there, I'll see if I have a activation code from way back lol

Sure, there have been a lot of improvements in general, but Connect was the major change in content deployment that had many users up in arms. Obviously, encrypted content would prevent unauthorized use unless it was cracked, which it sort of was anyway, but thankfully, there is very little encrypted-only material. The first ones that were done that way should be available in DIM format in a couple of months, if DAZ keeps their word.

For technical questions, your best bet is to visit Daz or Poser or *shudder* Renderosity. There isn't enough traffic in any sharing/torrent site to guarantee a timely answer. You'll also have access to the folks who wrote the program.

No need to worry. You can select work offline when daz starts and you'll be fine.
