I would love to witness some history as it actually unfolded but I don't have a time machine and I'm not smart enough to build one.
So does anyone think it could be done using the power of the mind?

One does that all the time; we recall, both fond and regrettable memories. But actual time displacement is not possible without some very big device.
Judging by the question at hand, I'd risk say using only the brain wouldn't do.

Logically??? You may be able to tap into your own history and remember things, but with science and humans the way they are constructed here on the physical Earth I'd think with the limited physical capacity of the human mindit would be impossible to remember things you didn't experience personally. I was born well after WWII ended, so I can never recall the events that took place, for example.
However, if you throw spirituality into the mix (and I'll tread lightly since this is not a religious discussion), the "being" side of a human being may have been around forever and will be for eternity. So if my current beliefs about spirituality are true, and spirituality is not restricted to physical laws (time being one of them). Then once we pass back into the original energy so we can not only see things but can actually decide to take another human form and relive those things. If that makes sense (don't need to answer as nothing I say does).
So to answer your question. No, not just with the human mind. Other factors need to be in play and even then it's still a toss-up.

Maybe OP should ask the Dalai Lama forum, for the western couch and Internet potatoes aren't the most knowing about mind-over-physics.
If I only could teleport to a nice tropical island in 1950, or materialize a couple billions, but no matter how much I brainstorm, here I am...

I answered his question as literal as I could as asked. Just the human mind? Not possible outside of your own experiences. Since spirituality is an unknown, I'd like to think anything is possible. But spirituality is WAYYYY beyond the simple human mind... I guess that was the point I was trying to make.

I don't argue about your answer merits in any way. Just occurred me the matter could be better suited for people with other area of expertise.
Anyway, the OP doesn't seem so much interested in the discussion, he probably already teleported to good old times.

I would argue my answers... Who knows WTF I'm saying is even remotely correct. It can be there is no spirit, and when you die you just end. In that case all we have is our human mind... So crap like hypnosis may help your past, but then my answer would be a more certain "no" when it comes to events we haven't experienced.
I'm just uncomfortable thinking this is all we have... I'd like to think we get chances for do-overs. When we do it over, we can go anywhere at any time. Part of my thinking is because it makes me feel better... But logically with what I know, my answer would have to be that I don;t know..

I'm thinking we don't have much of a chance. Even if spirits and parallel realities exist, we're screwed, not many choices in a world everyone says what we can and should do but ourselves, and when the end comes, it's finish line for a race we didn't run, but just followed the bunch, like a marathon. No fun.

Well I thought about asking spiritual leaders and then it occurred to me that they're probably no better than anyone else. Afterall if they had the ability to do stuff like travel in time they're not sharing it with anyone else.

In as much as I'm convinced that there's more to existence than I could possibly imagine - I'm also convinced that I really limited in my imagination. Therefore anything spiritual that I imagine is without a doubt really nothing compared to the reality of whatever the situation.

I often get unexpectedly busy from time to time. Perhaps it's one of the reasons why I long for the past.
