uTorrent - Other site says go back to 2.2.1
#1
HI,

The Empornium is advising everyone to dump uTorrent 3.xxx for 2.2.1.
µTorrent 2.2.1 (mirror)
http://www.oldapps.com/utorrent.php?old_utorrent=40

Does anyone know about any problems?

I have gone back to 2.2.1. No more ad bar. The new one may explain why I had
an external HD go bad.

To All µTorrent and Mainline BitTorrent Users 1 week and 49 mins ago

We continue to notice many users of newer µTorrent and Mainline BitTorrent clients experiencing severe problems. These problems include connection issues, issues with adding torrents, path issues, disk write issues and GUI issues. Users often don't notice the problems until they are in trouble.

Versions that are affected:

µTorrent 3.3.x
µTorrent 3.4.x
Mainline BitTorrent 7.8.x
Mainline BitTorrent 7.9.x

We recommend users of these versions switch to another client. The following clients are similar to µTorrent and are recommended to µTorrent users who want to switch:

Deluge 1.3
http://deluge-torrent.org/
Qbittorrent 3.1
http://www.qbittorrent.org/
µTorrent 2.2.1 (mirror)
http://www.oldapps.com/utorrent.php?old_utorrent=40

I never have any issues running the latest utorrent, but have heard others whine for years.

Thanks for the information.

Can someone remind me how I should set the Protocol Encryption?
Disabled, Enabled or Forced? And should I have checked " Incoming Legacy Connections"?

thank you all!

I use uTorrent 2.2.1 for as long as I remember. I have never updated for exactly the problems that you described above. I have never had problems of functioning the last one uTorrent, but I do not know what you mean in the problems uTorrent 2.2.1 is reliable and fast.
I love Uittorent for Windows viista, 7 8. His rapids that devil.

It is beyond me why anyone would want to use an ad-ridden closed source client with alleged ties to the MPAA, when free (as in freedom) open source clients that do the job just as well are available even for windows users.

As far as I can tell, the only "good" reason to use uTorrent, is that everybody else does it, which in turn facilitates the solving of technical issues. At the old SB all tutorials referred to uTorrent and sometimes vuze - and users who had problems with any other client were consistently told to install uTorrent.

I guess reverting to 2.2.1 is a solution of sorts... (nevermind the adware bundled with the installer)
