Windows 10 reverted back to 8.1
#1
I had windows 8 on my NEW ASUS laptop, windows upgraded to 8.1 automatically. Then when MS came out with windows 10 I installed it, It deleted a lot of my dll files. So I followed MS instructions on how to UNINSTALL win 10, step by step I followed instructions on how to do. Well when it restarted it will not open windows. It gives the error message: So I went to Microsoft's web site to find out how to revert back to 8.1 or 8, followed all directions on how. Then when it restarted my Laptop it was just one contentious circle, over, over, over with no end always back to the same point. Then finally on the "RESET YOUR PC" page error came up and said, "Unable to reset PC, a required partition is missing.

Then it says,

"There was a problem

Restart PC to try again

Looks like something did not load correctly. Restarting might fix the problem. If this happens more than once, you might also be able to find help by searching online for the specific error code.

ERROR Code:80004005"

Then it says restart now, then we start the cycle again. Over, over, over, and over again.

Now main problem is this Laptop does not have a recovery disk, and my warranty rain out the 4th of this month August, 2015.

does anybody have a recovery or a restore disc for this laptop(ASUS K550CA). I have a $700 laptop that can not be enjoyed. Looking to solutions to solve this problem, PLEASE HELP!"

I can not get any windows to open on my pc any ASUS does not have a recovery disc for my laptop. I have screen shots if anybody needs to see them.

You said "you can't reach a recovery partition," no?

See if you can get a partition tool, like GParted, burn the image to disc, and boot from it.

Then see if you can make another NTFS partition.

If not, try downloading a copy of Windows 8.1 and see if you can boot with that: format the hard drive, and see if things can get going from there.

Good luck.

IT's a lie that they don't have any recovery discs to their computers. They are just reluctant to give them out (possibly because of licensing problems with Microsoft, or they hate the administation part of it).

Just reinstall Windows over the existing Windows partition (do not format) and you will get a clean install with all your old data in the C:\Windows Old folder.

This is Windows 10 reverting back to wins 8 VERY VERY different of what we have known. Does not work like that anymore.

Kingfish is correct, the process still remains the same for Windows 10.

Just get a usb, download a .iso, and use a program to make the usb bootable with the .iso

During the setup, it will ask you if you want to discard the previous window's data, or keep it.

i used this exact same method to install vista over w10 without erasing any of my files.
