On a previous message someone stated that PIA "Their OpenVPN configs were outdated and did not contain --block-outside-dns to prevent DNS Leaks." Does anybody know if this has been addressed?

Also does anybody have any information about NordVPN or PureVPN?

Hello all, I've been downloading torrents on Pirate Bay and Kickass for years. I've only had a strike on my cable 3 times. That's in probably 10 years. Well now I the cable isn't in my name where i live. I don't want to get anyone in trouble. I have an iMac and I'm using Vuze. All I need a VPN for is torrenting. Any suggestions? I'd like to use a free one if possible but I'm open to others. I've never used a VPN so I really don't know much about them. I have been reading through threads here but I would appreciate some advice. Thanks.

Try these VPN comparison charts. Chose one that fits your budget/needs.

Latebar7609:
To torrent you need to take out a VPN subscription. There are no free VPNs for torrenting.
Basically you will be installing and running a VPN client (software) on your machine, which ensures anonymity, safety.

Read the article in the first post and chose one that fits your needs.
There are many articles on 'How VPNs work' (Search).

Many providers offer free VPNs for browsing. You could try one of them.
If comfortable you can proceed with the subscription.
There is one mentioned on the extratorrent site. Give it a try. Am not using it and have no affiliation to it ;-)

And Latebar, I am not sure if it is mentioned in articles you will read (probably will be), but make sure you pick VPN provider that allows torrenting (p2p sharing). To my knowledge not all providers allow this (as it can be difficult to handle letters from copyright holders and their lawyers) so if you pick wrong VPN, provider could forward these letters to your ISP and it will be almost like you are not using VPN.
I am personally using AirVPN (just started few days ago, my first VPN provider and I never regularly used torrent), it is quite affordable, allows torrenting and has user friendly environment and support. But to be honest, I did not survey much, those few I have seen were a bit more expensive.

Thank you both for the advice! I'm glad you told me that, Hiroven. I had no idea they didn't all allow torrenting. I'll do some comparing but I'll definitely check into AirVPN. Thanks so much.
