I wish TorrentFreak (or someone else) would review VPN providers with regard to whether they allow for port forwarding way, and do it in a way that is effective for use with torrent clients. For example the port number cannot change every time you connect forcing you to reconfigure your client. I had to go through several (big names first of course - big mistake) before finding one that was effective. I would say that the claims made by these services that their service is suitable for torrent client use in light of the fact that they do not provide port forwarding amounts to a scam against the gullible. In January I singed up with Purevpn for a year after [link removed] I read. I've been pretty happy with the download speeds I've gotten, and able to watch BBC TV through the iPlayer, too. They accept bitcoin too. Some other torrent friendly vpns are listed [link removed]

When I use utorrent First I use Technitium and change my Mac address then I use BTGuard proxy service to encrypt my data flow. Is this really working to hide my activity or encrypt it?

Changing your MAC address is a waste of time.  It is only used to identify your machine to the next physical piece of equipment.

The point isn't to encrypt or hide anything.  It is to move your point of presence on the internet so it appears as if you are somewhere else.  No one between you and the VPN server cares what you are doing.  That's not to say encryption isn't a good thing, just that it isn't relevant in this context.

+1 for AirVPN

According to their site, it was founded by "the help of two fantastic lawyers and a financing from a company interested in the project and operated by the very same people."

I use it for other things, but Plex doesn't work behind the VPN

Many recent not so stellar comments floating around about PIA. Many are from long time customers who have noticed crippling poor speeds, especially if they are located in the west coast of canada ans usa.

PIA is based in the usa. As most of us know, at any time the DMCA or government can come down hard on US based VPN providers and either force them to provide any and all info on their customers and force to them to keep logs if they really don't keep any.

From the reviews I'm thinking PIA is the best but I am worried about the speed issue. I will let you guys know how it works for me.
