btguard is my VPN of choice also, and I've tried a bunch of them.  Current rate is $89.95 USD

Agree. Again, I'll sell BT Guard as I've used it for years with no issue... I can't say enough good things about them.

$89?? You must purchase the full, VPN... I pay $60 just for the proxy on my uTorrent... The rest of my computer is unprotected.. But the only time I want anonymity is when I'm breaking the law by torrenting...

Would purchasing the VPN to protect your computer as a whole better protect you if you are using a Tor browser on the deep web? Like and extra layer, or does it matter?

I don't recommend anybody to use VPN by downloading strange VPN apps. Nobody knows if they sniffer you connection and scanning your PC. Use only opensource clients like openVPN, and use VPN provoders that support openVPN configurations.

P.s. use only latest versions of openVPN with fixed CVEs!

I don't recommend PureVPN.
They claimed of moneyback, but when I bought it and began to use, they send me openVPN configs witch don't work with latest version of openVPN GUI. I asked support what is the problem and they replied that support team are working with configure updates. I asked when will the bug be fixed and they replied "We don't know exactly dates..."
Then I asked to bring my money back and they didn't even reply... Don't recommend to anybody. Use other VPN providers witch supports users with updates

This does fluctuate, I bought a years VPN with PIA and was satisfied with it, probably give it a 3/5. The problems I faced was slow speeds, no matter which server locations I chose, if you are US based, they have a lot of servers so you wouldn't have issues there.

The support system does sometimes take long to reply, maximum of 5 days in my experience.

And finally, they are based in the US, although no logs are kept, NSA is a scare BUT there are people saying, 'If they want to get you, they will'.

I would recommend NordVPN to anyone, fast speeds, good support, multiple protocols, fast speeds and it shows you the capacity of servers allowing you to choose a different server. Finally they are based in Panama.

Nord also have 2 clients on Mac which is my OS, one being OpenVPN and the other IKEv2 which has very small speed loss. Connection wtihout 100mbps, with VPN (IKEv2) it goes down to 95 Mbps!
