Webtorrent support

What do you think about adding Webtorrent support directly on Thepiratebay website? Smile

Streaming and downloading directly from the website, without installing anything! (directly from the browser)

Most torrents are already provided by Torcache...

(if that's what you mean...)

Streaming harms swarms. We wouldn't do anything to encourage it.

People should know better. Sites like torrentfreak think popcorn time is/was the greatest thing since sliced bread, when in fact is just a very harmful attempt to monetize filesharing. Most internet connections are asymmetrical, by a 10-15 factor, and by the moment you end up the streaming you stop uploading. The only way most people get a ratio 1 in a torrent is to leave it uploading quite some time after they've finished downloading.
Streaming using p2p is a leecher nightmare, a hit and run by design.
If you want a movie, download it, and share after you get it. Don't fix what is not broken.

You know, someone else will do it.

You obviously don't know, someone else already did. It's little different to joker.org

In any case, knowing someone else will do something stupid is hardly a reason to do it ourselves.

I myself use webtorrent-hybrid to sync with rtorrent in my seed servers, also I use vuze's webtorrent plugin to seed from there too. I have to manually add the wss:// trackers to each magnet link.

I do however agree that more than 90% of the wss:// peers are and will be leechers. On the other hand, I wish magnets in thepiratebay came with webtorrent trackers. This technology has potential to overcome some censorship and some blocking techniques.

Maybe another button for a magnet link with webtorrent trackers appended to the end?

If you want to do that manually, you'd add this to the end of an existing magnet link: &tr=wss%3A%2F%2Ftracker.btorrent.xyz&tr=wss%3A%2F%2Ftracker.fastcast.nz&tr=wss%3A%2F%2Ftracker.openwebtorrent.com

Not really, comrade. Some software, like Zona, allow you to "pin" certain movies, which are preserved on the disk and seeded as long as they are on the disk.
