VPN

Hello,

When I attempt to download torrents I am getting this message:

Free VPN Account Required

You must create a Free VPN Account to access ThePirateBay

I am already using a VPN (AirVPN) and I've used ipleak.net to ensure my ip address is properly hidden. I've tried connecting to servers in various different countries to see if it makes a difference, but it doesn't seem to.

Is anyone else having trouble with this/ can anyone offer a solution?

actually, what you can get from official TPB sites is only magnet hash code, not torrent file.
make sure you connect to https://thepiratebay.org/ and not the other ones (usually they called TPB proxies)

after you sure if you connected to official site, install any adblock extension to your browser.

i think it will solve your problem.

I can close it but it comes back every time I try to download something. I tried a script blocker but that disabled the links as well as the ad. It feels more like a virus than an ad - it's so annoying. I looked in Chrome's Task Manager but I couldn't see a way to end it.

I don't use a VPN by the way. I don't want one. I always use the bay via this:  https://avoidcensorship.org/  Maybe I need a different mirror? Other people are reporting this problem:  https://www.reddit.com/r/thepiratebay/co...55r6/okay/

Problem solved! I just went here: https://thepirate-bay.org/  I hope whoever runs https://avoidcensorship.org/ burns in hell.

This worked for me.

Don't understand the smart comments from the powers at be.
Why not just post a link to the thread we need to read instead of............

1. Use different proxy.

2. As stated : USE ADBLOCKER. Also NoScript and Ghostery are advisable.

3. Put address of ad site into HOSTS. Rinse and repeat antil they stop.

hard to ignore when it is on EVERY page. and adblockers wont disable it. what is this? the early 2000s again? with pain in the ass pop up ads?

once is too much, every page is stupid.

since adblockers wont stop it, it's up to the site to remove it.

it's shit like this that drives people away so any "revenue" you get will decline sharply as you shed users.

most TBP users know, and already use, some type of VPN and don't need you to remind us. and those that don't find out quickly why the rest do.

I'm using the Brave browser which auto-blocks all ads, and on Firefox I have adblock installed. I don't see a single ad on either browser. Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing at your end, and include the URL in the shot.
