Transwarp is fast, and, you can go to the other side of the galaxy.
Now, onto a different sphere, I am binge-watching Voyager until the newer Discovery episodes will resume airing.
Well, the spore drive let's you transport an entire starship to anywhere in the galaxy instantly. Which is one of the things that makes 'Discovery' so stupid.
Transwarp is fast, as I said, but it still takes time. Rewatch 'Discovery' maybe. They teleport all over the place. It's silly.

Agreed. In the real Star Trek world, anything over warp 10 is impossible. I can't get into this spore drive or instant transport either. That would ruin storylines.

Well, in the TNG final episode "All Good Things," the three-nacelle Enterprise-D can go up to Warp 13.

Ya, I didn't care for that... It would have been more believable if it can max out to warp 10 more easily and for a longer period of time. Warp 13 is too far outside the realm of possibility for the timeframe... All those yeard not breaking 10, then they miraculously break to 13? I smell BS

Well, you should consider, the Warp 13 setting was another reality.
I mean, how can the admiral's jacket be worn for so long?

I found an interesting read at https://scifi.stackexchange.com/question...overlooked
On another note, Warp 10 was achieved by Voyager's Tom Paris but side effects of breaking the barrier was accelerated Evolution.
( VOY: Threshold *S02E15*).
Quote:He (Tom Paris) says he was staring at the velocity indicator (which read warp 10) and then, suddenly, he noticed he was watching himself. He could see the outside of the shuttle, Voyager, the inside of the ship, and the sickbay. For a moment, he was everywhere, with the Kazon, the Klingons, on Earth, and he even saw other galaxies. He says it wasn't like anything he has ever experienced. According to Paris, he only returned because he noticed that the crew was looking for him.
That one always bugged me as the episode is placed in a Season 2 while the entire show lasted 7 Seasons.
They broke the Warp 10 barrier, they found out it was not safe to use as Tom Paris' body underwent accelerated evolution. He kidnapped Captain Janeway and ran. They were found on a remote planet, fully evolved into a form of amphibian-like creatures. The Doctor was able to revert them to their Human state by destroying the "evolved" DNA with anti-proton radiation treatments and... That was it. A footnote in the Ship's Logs.
They should have shelved the script for the last episodes of the Season 7. Like, pre-final episode. It gets aired with (maybe) the final episode starting with them preparing the ship to use Warp 10 to get back home. The Doctor devised the treatments for them to undergo once they reach Alpha Quadrant and then, Janeway from the future arrives giving them a "safer" choice... If a safer choice can be going into Borg territory and provoking the Queen, but... None the less...

That was the Transwarp barrier.
They also achieved Slipstream later on, though that was limited...
