So far, I've bought every Star Trek movie until "Star Trek." Should I follow suit with Into Darkness?

If the Transformers movies were nothing more than US military recruitment films then Star Trek is a film who's purpose is to make you "go to Best Buy or an Apple store and buy something tech." Because the concepts of storyline, plot, genre and character continuity are bascially tossed out the window in exchange for special effects and making the Enterprise feel like an Apple store.

I was left with the opinion that someone at Apple threw some money at a Hollywood studio in order to let surfers from Reddit become actors and gave Facebook junkies the job of creating the script and time line.

Perhaps the most honest trailer of the film I found is this one and in my opinion should be viewed before spending money on anymore Star Trek movies.

Cry me a river. It's an altered reality from the one in the other Star Trek movies/shows, so they have taken some freedom to f* around. I still enjoy both original movies and the first Star Trek reboot. Into Darkness is weak, that I can agree on.

I just saw Star Trek again, and I find myself agreeing with Vintage television; it doesn't live up to I-VI.

Maybe it's too young to judge, too early to say it's good or bad.

Levar Burton (i.e. Geordi LaForge from Star Trek: The Next Generation) called it a "shitload of fu.." well he didn't, he just it doesn't live up to Roddenberry's versions.

If you are worried about anachromism, I guess you'd be worried forever. There was anachromism since the original series.

That's my four dollars.

I can't imagine how stretched thin JJ is. How much more can he do? (or how much is he actually doing, and how much is pushed to his staffers.) I believe in his talent. I liked seeing the gang back together, I liked moments. A weaker entry imho.

Well, not all of us want the original characters back together. There is a time where you can't make anything more. All good things must come to an end.
