You could use a tool like 'MediaInfo' to check which video or audio streams won't play.
My 8 year old Samsung for example can't handle H265 encoded video or high-end
audio like Dolby 5.1+ or DTS.

On my main TV all the decoding is done on a PC I use for a media center and hard-wired
to the TV, it can play anything I want.

Thanks for the reply.

I know for a fact that LG TVs don't support " DolbyTrueHD " yet, but i've tried other files which don't use this and they still don't work.

Do you think it could be some sort of Anti-Piracy measure ? Because i've been able to stream any/every 4K film off the bay with no problem for months, but recently some of them refuse to work via " cast to device " on windows, and " LG's Smartshare " application.

My TV came out 2016/2017 so surely should support all the filetypes

Is there any way to convert mkv files with true Hd audio to ac3 audio without any loss of picture quality

I am assuming you haven't been downloading fakes. These files play on your PC, just not on your TV, correct?

No.

Take a deep breath and think about that for a minute. What you are saying is that you believe that every encoder in the entire world, simultaneously, avoids changing anything whatsoever for months or even years at a time.

They don't. They tweak things continually and when you're dancing along the bleeding edge you will find that sometimes things they do with ever-changeable software today won't work with never-changeable hardware you bought yesterday (let alone a year ago).

As Faithwyn said, use MediaInfo to examine the files that won't play to find out what they have in common, contrasted to files which will play. There will be something.

Yes. That very topic is already under discussion here: https://pirates-forum.org/Thread-First-p...#pid204446

So to save everyone typing everything twice I'll close this thread and you can join that one.
