Interview

The Haditha Massacre and a Declining Empire: An On-The-Ground Marine Speaks Out

Greg Stoker and Mark of Colonial Outcasts talk about the Haditha Massacre nearly 20 years later with former US Marine Alex Ramos who was in sector during the aftermath of the massacre.

The Haditha Massacre was a series of killings on November 19, 2005, in which a group of United States Marines killed 24 unarmed Iraqi civilians. The killings occurred in the city of Haditha in Iraq's western province of Al Anbar. Among the dead were men, women, elderly people and children as young as 1, who were shot multiple times at close range while unarmed.

Iraqis expressed disbelief and voiced outrage after the six-year U.S. military prosecution ended with none of the Marines sentenced to incarceration.

Interview

Will China’s Digital Silk Road Challenge the West’s Tech Dominance?

China's Belt and Road initiative, a trillion dollar infrastructure project that is looking to recreate an ancient trade route across Eurasia, has a sister program that is just as ambitious. Dubbed the 'Digital Silk Road', this initiative is looking to leverage China's growing tech prowess into connecting Asia and Africa through fiber optic cables and software companies.

Will the creation of a Chinese-led digital Silk Road threaten the US's decades long dominance in tech?

Is a digital cold war brewing between the two rivals?
