I've started to create my own syncs - again.
I think the ones available are a bit "overprocessed", which makes them sound harsh. They lack of dynamics and overall quality due to high video and audio compression. My approach is to use as little processing as possible.
Key points to my releases:
- Minimal processing to retain a quality as close to the original audio as possible
- Source will be Bluray remux to minimise compression artifacts
- Audio will be decoded from the best source of the Bluray
- The Intro will be placed before the main movie (where it is supposed to be)
- Two chapters, one for the intro, one for the main movie
- Audio will be Dolby Digital Plus @ 256kBit/s Stereo
- Video will be encoded in x264 with preset placebo and threads 1 to optimize compression
- Numbers represent the release order on Rifftrax.com
- Most of the time, I'll use 4200 kbit/s for the video. For some movies, where the movie has a bad video quality to begin with (like Point Break or The Island of Dr Moreau) , I use 3500 kbit/s.
I plan to do as many as I can, in a way I want them to have. The question for me is, if it is worth the effort to share them. So here is the first batch of files. Check them out and if you like them and want more, let me know.
Note: I cannot upload them to pirate bay right now. All I get is a timeout after a couple of minutes. I'll try later. Until then, I'll upload them here:

Rifftrax Commentary Tracks - 004 - Cocktail (1988)
Rifftrax Commentary Tracks - 006 - Crossroads (2002)
Notes: This movie has not been released on Bluray yet. I took the 720p iTunes version to make this. There is a 1080p iTunes around, but it has several damaged parts. I tried to fill them with the 720p frames, but found, that they showed the exact same amount of detail. I assume this was just upscaled or captured, so I ended up makeing a 720p release.
Rifftrax Commentary Tracks - 009 - Point Break (1991)
Rifftrax Commentary Tracks - 013 - The Grudge (2004)
Notes: The japanese lines are forced subtitled.
Rifftrax Commentary Tracks - 015 - The Island of Dr Moreau (1996)
Rifftrax Commentary Tracks - 016 - Firewall (2006)
Rifftrax Commentary Tracks - 030 - Glitter (2001)
Rifftrax Commentary Tracks - 046 - Batman And Robin (1997)
Rifftrax Commentary Tracks - 081 - Titanic (1997)
Rifftrax Commentary Tracks - 088 - Avatar (2009)
Notes: The Na'vi language is forced subtitled. However, the font is different. Pictures of the text in a special font were used on the BluRay, I converted them to text, because they had to be edited due to different timings due to the intro. Unfortunatly, the riff "The Na'vi are speaking in runes" doesn't work anymore.
Rifftrax Commentary Tracks - 091 - High School Musical (2006)
