I realize that politics once consumed the online MSTie community but at the same, I can't help but hope that there are other RiffTrax diehards who are also fans of the Chapo Trap House podcast who might be interested in syncing up their new (very casual) "riff track" of the Phantom Menace.
I am sure that not everyone here is a commie pinko, but I also doubt that I am alone in this shared interest.
For those who aren't familiar with the podcast, Chapo Trap House has been described as "MST3K for Politics" (Onion AV Club) and not inaccurately. The podcast originally formed when three left-wingers who had met on Twitter got together in person on the Street Fight Radio podcast to pull apart the Michael Bay offal "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi". Ever since, dissecting films has been a feature of the podcast. More than anything, the group mocks and riffs on politicians and pundits and the world we live in.
Bill Corbett has been a guest on the show, as has Patton Oswalt, thus linking them in person to the both RiffTrax and two iterations of MST3K. David Cross, who has joined the riffing at the SF Sketch Fest has also been a guest on Chapo. Beyond this, films skewed on both MST3K and RiffTrax are regularly mentioned on Chapo, including the actual riffs from the episodes, as well as music cues and even stinger-styled endings like MST3K. In fact, the most recent episode before the Phantom Menace riff featured several references to Torgo. Also, plenty of clues that they are also fans of Red Letter Media, complete with nods to Plinkett.
Anyway, here's hoping someone might be interested in syncing this up.
If not, I would still like to extend my thank you to all of the syncs that have been shared. <3
