No firsthand experience with the service, but if it works as advertised, when your VPN disconnects it will block all internet access, not just your torrent client. You can accomplish the same thing with firewall rules.

This would just be a more user friendly way of accomplishing the same thing without having to tinker with firewall rules.

This feature has nothing to do with the conversation. DNS "leak protection" just makes sure that DNS lookups are routed through the VPN when it is active. Nothing more.

An alternative to setting up firewall rules is the Vuze client, which has the ability to bind to the VPN interface. If the VPN interface is not up, it will wait patiently for it to return before resuming.

Thanks, Ill look into vuze Smile the more I google the more I realize I was no where close to the security I could have if I was smart lol...

A couple of questions though, I was looking at the server listed above, private internet access... I noticed not only do they have leak protection which isint something that would help me in this exact situation, they also have protection from drops... not sure how the version they have works but was curious if anyone has any experience with them

How do they compare to VPN4all... they are definitly cheaper and have a lot less servers then vpn4all but just curious what everyone thinks of em.

Also torrent boxes... does any know of any reasonable priced ones that will work with public trackers? and that will let you sign up anonymously via bitcoin etc.

Id go private trackers, but obviously most the good ones are taken and sometimes you just need piratebay lol

Thanks again Smile

with that privateinternetaccess... they are in the US, seems like they would have some major potential issues with keeping everyone anonymous dosent it.

Granted they can throw away logs but seems like that the US could force them to divulge IP info as they connect at least doesn't it? needless to say I dont trust my government lol

Is that even possible with a VPN? I thought with tunneling software they had to connect directly to your computer... Im by no means an expert at this, but Im trying to learn so sorry if I have wrong assumptions and such... Im doing the best I can, it just takes time, and finding the right websites to learn the stuff

I am not an expert either, but I am a happy customer of Private Internet Access.
They claim they don't keep any log so that they can't match my true IP address and the temporary one they assign to me.

They have multiple servers all around the word and I happen to like their servers in Canada because they seem less crowded giving me better and faster connection speed. I live in the Midwest of USA. You can't beat their subscription fee either.
Happy torrenting!

I agree. They say that US law doesn't require them to keep logs which I find very hard to believe b/c the US is usually the first one to go after someone besides the UK.
