Making Clothing for DAZ
#1
I've tried looking up tutorials, but everything seems to be outdated. Most of the tutorials I've seen are for making clothing for Genesis, but I use Genesis 3 exclusively. Also, 95% of the clothing made for G3F is over-sexualized, and I'd like to concentrate on designing more practical articles. Is there anyone here with experience in the processes that could clear some things up? I'm an experienced 3D modeler, so I've already learned the hard part, I feel.

Thanks in advance! ^_^

you need a 3d program, 3ds max, Hexagon, Blender etc...
Then look up clothing tutorials for that program. Don't search daz3d clothing instead look for the 3d modeling program of choose clothing tutorials.

Personally I like marvelous designer.

Ah. I guess there in lies my failure. I'm pretty experienced in 3DS Max, Maya & Mudbox. I looked at Marvelous Designer, but it requires money - I guess I could attempt to pi-r8 it.

I assume I should export the basic G3 model and model off of it?

First one on the list is a tutorial, the rest are apps.

Not sure about G3, haven't had a chance to play with the program before my old lappy crashed and I lost it. Never got around to getting it again, but I might have to now.

MD is free *hint, hint, wink, wink* and works great.  If you know 3D then you'll have no problems modelling for Daz or Poser.  Daz's rigging is much easier, but making materials for Iray is a closely gaurded secret.   The topology requirements are a bit different due to the requirements for movement, but if you examine the mesh of existing items you'll notice that.  There's been a few tutorials from Esha lurking around the pirate community that are good.  If you decide to sell your items be aware that the damn pirates *wink, wink* will trade your clothing for free....and be darned proud of it too. Wink    Look for a thread on clothing creation in the Daz forums by Patience55.  It covers everything.
