MST3K Cinema Editions

What: Cinema Editions are high-quality, remastered versions of films, re-edited to match with the original MST3K episode audio. There are no opening/closing themes, segment skits, or host silhouettes (similar to RiffTrax).
This is the version of the film you'd see in the theaters, all while still being able to enjoy the "Mystery Science Theater 3000" riffing experience.

Why: As an obvious MST3K fan and editor from 80's Hollywood, I have laughed out loud at the classic films riffed by the likes of Joel, Mike, Crow, Tom, et al.  I was thrilled to be able to experience these films, many of which I'd never heard of, in a way that mirrored my exact thoughts while watching...
(S09E11: Devil Fish - "You know, just because you can edit doesn't mean you should." - Tom Servo)

Having seen all the episodes at least a dozen times, I wondered what the original films would be like, fully restored, but including the hilarious riffs of the tv show. It’s not meant to be a replacement for the classic MST3K episodes, just another way to enjoy it. I hope you agree and enjoy it as well.

How: Each film is ripped from it's original commercial master source (Blu-Ray / DVD).  Using the original MST3K episode as a guide track, the re-mastered film is edited to sync perfectly (replacing the film's original audio).  Where the MST3K episode has been  edited for time, I remix in the original film's soundtrack and restore the footage to it's full length.  The result is a fully re-mastered final film with the show's audio track, uncut in it's original presentation.  This is a time-consuming process, but a very satisfying (IMO) version to add to the already wonderful MST3K collection.

For Collectors
The first MST3K Cinema Edition is now available for download (the only one currently blocked on YouTube):

The Mole People (1956)
Source: Blu-ray
Resolution: 1080p
Aspect Ratio: 1.37:1
File Size: 8.5GB

File Size Warning: All films available for collectors will be in the highest quality mastered format.
Thus, the file size is very large. If you want to download smaller versions, you'll need to do so from YouTube.
Again, I'm making these available for collectors.

Oh, god. They've released a Blu-Ray of Giant Spider Invasion.

What does it say that I really want to see you handle that film?

Thanks for taking the time to do this, Gary.  I think it'd be helpful if you mentioned the resolution and/or what each one is sourced from, since you write that it could be either DVD or Blu-ray depending on what's available.  (The Mole People is 1080p/Blu-ray in case anyone wanted to know before downloading.)

Great suggestion! I’ll be sure to include the resolution on future uploads! Thanks for covering me on this one!  Shy

I love that I might have to buy another 1TB hard drive, just for MST3K/Rifftrax stuff.

Lol. You're awesome, man. I'm weirdly fascinated by projects like these. There are similar files around here somewhere for certain KTMA episodes.
