TV Documentary Series:
Lost Cities of the Ancients (2006)
Древние затерянные города (2006)
Documentary series which unearths lost civilisations and reveals the wonder of some of the world's greatest lost cities.
IMDb rating: 7.5
Episode 1 - The Vanished Capital of the Pharaoh
This episode looks at the legendary lost city of Piramesse. This magnificent ancient capital was built 3,000 years ago by the Egyptian pharaoh Ramesses the Great, but long ago the whole city disappeared. When it was rediscovered by early archaeologists, it opened up a bizarre puzzle - when Piramesse was finally found it was in the wrong place, somewhere Ramesses the Great could not possibly have built it.
Recreating the stories of both the early archaeologists and the ancient Egyptians, the film enters a lost world, recounting the strange tale of the quest for Piramesse and following the intriguing detective work of modern archaeologists Manfred Bietak and Edgar Pusch as they solve the baffling mystery of how this great lost city could vanish, only to reappear thousands of years later in the wrong place.
Episode 2 - The Cursed Valley of the Pyramids
In the Lambeyeque valley in northern Peru lies a strange lost world - the forgotten ruins of 250 mysterious pyramids, including some of the biggest on the planet, colossal structures made out of mud bricks. Long ago, the Lambeyeque people were haunted by a terrible fear and believed that building pyramids was essential to their survival. Their obsession reached its height at a city called Tucume, an eerie place of 26 pyramids standing side by side, the last pyramids this civilisation created before they vanished forever.
What was the fear that drove these people to build so many pyramids, what were they for and why did the whole civilisation suddenly vanish? This film captures the moments when archaeologists at the site uncovered a mass of bodies of human sacrifice victims, following a trail of clues into the dark story of Tucume. It recreates the strange rituals of the people of the valley, revealing a civilisation whose obsession to build pyramids eventually turned to horror, until Tucume finally vanished in a bloody frenzy of human sacrifice.
Episode 3 - The Dark Lords of Hattusha
It was one of the greatest vanishing acts in history. More than 3,000 years ago a mysterious and ruthless civilisation rose from nothing, created a brutal and unstoppable army and built an empire that rivalled Egypt and Babylon. Yet, just as it was at the height of its powers, the great empire suddenly vanished from history.
This is the story of the formidable Hittites, a civilisation bent on world domination. Their long-lost capital, Hattusha, which disappeared thousands of years ago, was recently rediscovered, and archaeologists have unearthed one of the most astonishing and ingenious cities of the ancient world, featuring rings of impenetrable walls, secret tunnels, temples, palaces and a vast pyramid-like structure facing Egypt.
Buried in this lost city is one of the greatest libraries of the ancient world. All the secrets of the mysterious Hittite empire were written in two codes - one a unique form of hieroglyphs. Using these deciphered texts, the film recreates the ancient world of the Hittites, telling the story of what happened to them, and what caused an empire built to last forever to vanish so completely from history.

Tip - Working with Disc Images:
The file listed above for Lost Cities of the Ancients is a DVD9 disc image.
If you are not familiar with how to work with disc images, you can do one of the following:
1.) Play the file directly with VLC or similar media player
* In VLC, go to Media>Open File
* Go to the location where the VIDEO_TS file is stored
* Within the VIDEO_TS folder, select the VIDEO_TS.IFO file to play
2.) B urn the image to a DVD9 (Double Layer or DL) disc
3.) Use MakeMKV
You can easily convert any disc image (DVD or Blu-ray) with MakeMKV. The software allows you to select the files you want to convert them into MKV files. The process only takes a few seconds or minutes (depending on your hardware).
The software is excellent. I highly recommend it.
MakeMKV is available for Linux, Windows and Mac.
Please note that commercial Blu-ray discs are proteced by technologial measures preventing unauthorized duplication (including, but not limited to, "Cinavia" technology). MakeMKV doesn't remove such measures, so an MKV file produced from a commercial Blu-ray disc will not play on a Blu-ray player, even when converted back to M2TS format. However, the MKV files will play on your PC, mobile phone and tablet with a media player like VLC, mpv, etc.

The Dawn of Recording - The Julius Block Cylinders - 3 CD Set
Julius Block (1854-1934) was a man of vision. Beginning in 1889, shortly after Edison perfected the first viable sound recording device, Block recorded some of the most important artists and personalities of his day on cylinder. His recordings range in date from 1889 to 1927, and were made in Russia, Germany, and Switzerland. This three-CD set includes artists who have previously remained “silent” and change the conception of many artists whose discography up until now were thought to be complete.
Also included are spoken word recordings by Tolstoy, Tchaikovsky and others.

IMDb rating: 8.4

1. Coup d'Etat
2. The Forces of Darkness
3. The Cover-Up
4. The Patsy
5. The Witnesses
6. The Truth Shall Set You Free
7. The Smoking Guns
8. The Love Affair
9. The Guilty Men
About The Documentary - The Establishment Backlash:
This documentary rankled the UK and US establishment.
After the first two episodes aired in the UK in 1988, the producer Nigel Turner was censured by the British Parliament. The Independent Broadcasting Authority forced Central Television to produce a third episode dedicated to trying to disprove the documentary, which aired on November 16, 1988, which was later referred to as a "studio crucifixion" of Turner and what they claimed were inaccuracies.
The United States corporation, Arts & Entertainment Company, purchased the rights to the original two segments. In 1989, the series was nominated for a Flaherty Documentary Award. In November 1991, the series was re-edited with additional material and divided into three 50-minute programmes, which were also shown by ITV on consecutive nights. An additional episode appeared in 1995.
In November 2003, three additional segments ("The Final Chapter") were added by the History Channel, entitled, respectively, "The Smoking Guns", "The Love Affair" and "The Guilty Men".
The final episode directly implicates Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) – who was the U.S. Vice President at the time of the assassination. – and its airing in 2003 created an outcry among Johnson's surviving associates, including Johnson's widow, Lady Bird Johnson, former LBJ aides Bill Moyers and Jack Valenti (longtime president of the Motion Picture Association of America), as well as U.S. Presidents Gerald Ford – who was the last-living (at the time of the outcry) Warren Commission member – and Jimmy Carter. These Johnson supporters lodged complaints of libel with the History Channel, and subsequently threatened legal action against Arts & Entertainment Company, owner of the History Channel.
The History Channel responded by assembling a panel of three historians, Robert Dallek, Stanley Kutler, and Thomas Sugrue. On a program aired April 7, 2004, titled "The Guilty Man: A Historical Review," this so-called panel of experts gave their opinion that the documentary was not credible and should not have aired.
The History Channel bowed and scraped still further, apologizing - for its own documentary - to its viewers and to Mrs. Johnson and her family for airing the show. The channel said it would not show the episode again.
Malcolm Liggett, a retired economics professor, labor economist at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and employee of the Office for Wage and Price Stability in the Executive Office of the President from 1975 to 1981 sued A&E regarding the episode "The Smoking Guns," which claimed Liggett was involved in a conspiracy to kill Kennedy. Liggett and A&E reached a settlement, which required that a letter by Liggett be read on the show History Center.
In a letter to the chief executives of the three parent companies of A & E Networks, — Victor F. Ganzi of the Hearst Corporation, Michael D. Eisner of Disney, and Robert C. Wright of NBC — former United States President Gerald Ford described the allegations as "the most damaging accusations ever made against a former vice president and president in American history."
The UK and US establishment would like you to disregard this documentary and of course to believe their narrative about the John F Kennedy assassination.
You can view it and decide for yourselves the veracity of the information, the many testimonies.

TV Documentary Series:
The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross (1983-1994)
The Joy of Painting is an American half-hour instructional television show created and hosted by painter Bob Ross which ran from January 11, 1983, to May 17, 1994 on non-commercial, public television stations.
In most episodes, Bob taught techniques for landscape oil painting, completing a painting in each session. Using his "wet-on-wet" technique, Bob painted natural scenes with bold strokes across the canvas, from cascading waterfalls to snow-covered forests.
With his calm disposition, disarming smile, peaceful paintings and endless encouragement, Bob made a positive impact on everyone who ever saw the show. Bob truly believed each person has incredible potential and could surprise themselves with their own abilities.
Though he passed away in 1995, his legacy and words of wisdom live on today.
IMDb rating: 9.3
Pictures of Bob:
With his family in 1987.
With his squirrel friend Peapod.
Favorite Bob Ross Quotes:

Quote:"Maybe in our world there lives a happy little tree over there."
Quote:"If we're going to have animals around we all have to be concerned about them and take care of them."
Quote:"This is a happy place; little squirrels live here and play.”
Quote:"Look around. Look at what we have. Beauty is everywhere—you only have to look to see it."
Quote:"In painting, you have unlimited power. You have the ability to move mountains. You can bend rivers. But when I get home the only thing I have power over is the garbage.”
Quote:"We don't make mistakes. We just have happy accidents."
Quote:"Don’t forget to tell these special people in your life just how special they are to you.”
Quote:"Anytime you learn, you gain.”
Quote:"Go out on a limb — that’s where the fruit is.”

Note #1:
The video quality is OK. The sound quality is good with all the files I tested, except for one episode which had poor audio (s29e08).
You can replace the poor audio episode with one from YouTube. If you find that there are others that need replacing, you can do the same with those as well.

These files would be best suited for viewing on a small screen like a PC monitor, laptop, tablet or mobile phone.
There are other torrents of this series with better quality, but unfortunately none of those torrents are seeded.
Note #2:
This is almost complete. The pack includes all 31 seasons with 401 episodes. There are two episodes missing. However, fortunately those two episodes are on YouTube.
