There are a couple of tools out there. There's the Microsoft/Windows Installer, NSIS (by the guys behind Winamp), InstallShield and Inno Setup

Out of these, I know that NSIS and Inno Setupare for free, and Inno Setuphas some GUI tools for easy making installers (I've used it a couple of times).

I know that. The only issue is that I don't know how to make the designs like they use. Like CODEX has Music that plays in his installers. How would I add that with Inno Setup?

If you can't type "inno setup music" into google, which yields as (just) the first result: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12359...up-install then, frankly, you can forget about ever being able to create an installer, it will be beyond you.

IMO, you need to lay out what exactly you intend your installer to do first. Keep things very simple to start with then build on your ability/competency.

INNO is a great piece of S/W once you know what your doing. If your asking questions then maybe you need to back peddle a little. Try using something like DUP2 to build very basic patchers. Then advance to binary differencing within DUP2 to speed up patching and make your patches cross platform.

You could then maybe move onto nesting the patch options within a drop down menu etc etc.

Some good software to hone your skills would be DUP2, AutoPlay Visual Studio, AutoPlay Visual Patch. Photoshop for getting "still" graphics for your installer....

Creating the patchers/installers can also be done through VB (To name one) with a little more knowledge and hard work (Coding knowledge).

Hope this helps in some way Big Grin

Bear in mind as well that installer software is just an integrated development environment tailored for the job so knowing that you can use pretty much any compiler you like as long as it bundles files and lets you create a basic window.

Most likely you will be able to get some information about the compiler used by looking at the .exe properties and using a resource viewer.
