Can someone tell me how can i use ipfilter in order to ban an iprange from connecting in utorrent?
For instance, if i want to ban from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255
I've tried the following but none seems to work:
1.1.1.*
1.1.1.1 - 1.1.1.255
1.1.1.1-1.1.1.255

also, RELOAD ip filter in utorrent.

I assume that "8 entries" is the number of lines with ban rules i have actually used in ipfilter and not the total number of IPs i have blocked?
I have 6 lines with single IPs blocked and 2 lines with IPs from 1 to 255 range blocked.
I initially thought i'd get 255+255+6= 516 entries.

I'm initial seeding a torrent. I copied the peer list, paste in Excel and sorted in descending order.
Easy to spot similar IPs. Only the last 2 digits change and they even use the same port number.
Maybe they are poisoning the swarm and some fellas are getting hashfails or maybe it's the infamous fake peers TPB or the trackers inject for the protection of the uploader.
Either way i banned them.

Either way, banning them from connecting to you won't achieve anything.
You are seeding. If they're poisoning the swarm that won't affect you because you're not downloading from them. And banning them from connecting to you doesn't stop them connecting to anyone else.
The fake peers TPB injects ( actually, it's not TPB that does that, it's the tracker, openbittorrent, etc. ) aren't "real" so they never show up in the peers tab. At most they will show up in the log tab as discarded peers who never replied to a connections.
On the other hand, if they're totally innocent, banning them from connecting to you won't hurt them anyway, they will still be able to download from every other peer in the swarm.
tl, dr = blocking them is nothing but a waste of your time. [Which is why uTorrent doesn't make it easy & obvious.] It won't prevent them downloading anything and it won't prevent them uploading anything.

I don't care to whom they connect to. They can download from the other peers in the swarm. I just don't want to seed to those peers.

In my case though they did show up in the peers tab and i was seeding to them.
As you can see, i haven't finished seeding my torrent and there's a bunch of seeders according to the stats of utorrent.
There are also a bunch of leechers with the same IP (only the last 2 numbers change) and port number.
Maybe they are there for the protection of the uploader? Fine with me.
Maybe there's no harm connecting and seeding to them? Also fine. I still seed my torrent through other peers.
Maybe i achieved nothing but the illusion of protection by blocking them? Triple fine.
I didn't feel comfortable with it and it just took a minute to block them. No harm with that.
Also the time i finish seeding the torrent i will delete the ipfilter and block no IPs from connecting to me. I never do when downloading a torrent.
Initial seeding my torrent though is a different story.
