They are not slower in terms of transferring the content of the torrent, that depends on the speed of the peers. They're only slower when starting the torrent. Sometimes it can take a pretty long time to display a list of the torrents content (when there are only a few peers in the swarm). After that, there's no difference between them.

Magnets only take extra time while downloading metadata, when they have downloaded metadata they download the content with same speed as a torrent file of the same torrent do !

And how long downloading of metadata can take, its only a few kbs of data !

So don't misintrepet the info !

If you are on Linux, I highly reccomend using rtorrent! Rtorrent utilizes libtorrent, a C++ library which (as mentioned on their main webpage), "[rtorrent is a] BitTorrent implementation focusing on efficiency and scalability."

To convert a magnet link into a torrent in rtorrent, when you are at the prompt in the main CLI UI, simply copy the magnet link, and paste it into the main prompt (as shown at the bottom of the image):

..after you've copied the magnet, simply press enter (to load the torrent), highlight the selected torrent, and start it (via CTRL+S), and thats it!

Ridiculously simple! If you are on Linux, I highly recommend rtorrent--it is certainly my favorite BitTorrent application by far!

BTW, I concur with .::Alien::.--downloading the metadata (the first stage in converting a magnet link), takes only a few seconds for me (at most)!

Those two conversion sites, either will not load in TOR, or take many tens of minutes do so. IF they load, they DO work.
I found this site: http://magnet-to-torrent.com/ and it loads quickly in TOR.
