Handbrake - Or comparible video compressor

Ive used Handbrake to compress videos and have had great success when I first downloaded this program. I was compressing files that were 1.5gb to less than 500mb.

I keep the same settings that I got off youtube tutorials and for some reason, nothing compressing anymore. I compressed a file earlier today and the new file was even bigger than the original. WTF.

Does anybody know of a good video compressor. Something easy to use, that doesnt require much fussing around with?

To be honest, I use this to compress porn files that just take up too much space on my drive. I really dont care about the audio, but would prefer to keep as much video quality as possible.

handbrake is pretty much just an interface - it's the encoder settings you have to adjust to your liking.

Well Like I said, Im pretty much using the same settings I always have and things just arent compressing anymore. I know without explaing what Im doing, its hard to help.. so I was just wondering if there were any other programs out there I can try.

Use to work before, but not anymore. Might be the files, but Im just not having any luck now unless I set it to how big I want the file. I dont like doing that tho, cuz the quality takes a hit.

if setting the desired quality produces a big file and setting a small filesize outputs low quality
then the odds are your source has poor compressibility.

again, how much files compress has nothing to do with the gui (handbrake, megui, staxrip, xvid4psp, et cetera)
it has to do with:
- the encoder (xvid, x264, divx, et cetera) and respective settings,
- the compressibilty of the source
- the filtering done in the avisynth script that feeds the source to the encoder
- how much is allocated for audio

whatever version he's using, he's clearly able to set the filesize.
