database maintenance?
#1
is the database really under maintenance all the time or does tpb have a beef with hidemyass.com  ?

every time i search for something it seems to show the results ok but then when i click to sort by size (because i want raw bluray rips i have very fast connection (seedbox) so i can handle the file sizes) i get database under maintenance .

sometimes i can refresh and the results show other times i have to repeatedly refresh rapidly (maybe got bad node in round robin routing) then it works ok.

No, TPB isn't under maintenance all the time. Big Grin

It's a glitch and the tpb admin is aware of the issue. No idea when it'll be fixed, but I feel your frustration at having to refresh the page all the time, it's annoying as hell. When's it been fixed, staff/crew will post here with an update.

thx for the heads-up

did the glitch exist back before the recent raid and shutdown or even earlier? if not then it could be fixed by reverting the software.

this i have seen happen on certain searches as well making me think it is a beef against certain searches

I know there are other posts, but the squeaky wheel gets the grease, as the old saying goes. I am tired of websites that are supposed to be about fair practice and trade, and offering something other sites do not, and now they have an excuse and a cover story. It is no different with Pirate Bay, whom I am dedicated to and love because you are a site that uses https://, more secure process with how you handle torrents, and all searches are done within your site, not on a search engine like Google where the DMCA is more easily able to track and see what you are doing on most torrent sites that are never secure. At least the only site I have ever found is Pirate Bay that does https:// secure browsing on the site. I have never gotten a notice from Comcast via the DMCA when I use Pirate Bay, EVER. And I have had Comcast for 4 years now! I download 6 times or more a day and the average size of each file is 2 gigabytes or more. I can download at 15 megabytes per second, or 130 megabits per second when there is sufficient seeders more than the leechers.

So I love Pirate Bay. I am just frustrated about this maintenance bug issue many are experiencing. There is no reason for this. Anyways, that's my two cents. BTW, the best and ONLY torrent software to download and use is Deluge. It is ALL automatically optimized and set so there is stress and worry free torrent downloading.

Am i missing something?

@dom,
First, make sure you are accessing https://thepiratebay.se, not a third party proxy.
If so, read this thread; the entire website has a glitch: http://suprbayoubiexnmp.onion/Thread-dat...aintenance

i am using the proxy because

first before thepiratebay forced https on us i was able to use glimmerblocker to deal with all the evil scripts and popups and ads.

second now that thepiratebay forced https on us glimmerblocker no longer works because it's creator refuses to reverse engineer ssl and https the evil scripts get through

the options:

i use adblock and stuff now but it does not block javascripts that are embedded into the main html

onion works ok because it does not force https on the user end so glimmerblocker works once again but some changes at tor now means the browser is combined with tor as a package and i am unable to get tor to work with safari or other browsers because it seems as the new tor package will not allow external browsers to work and polipo does not seem to talk to the new tor as i get tor is not a socks proxy error or something.

i can still use the old tor package but i have to empty the tor folder where all the following stuff lives and delete it otherwise there is a caching problem that causes old content to show instead

cached-certs
cached-consensus
cached-descriptors
cached-descriptors.new
lock
state

hide my ass option

i use hidemyass because it also does https to http conversion and the only downside is i have to select private browsing otherwise i get a blank page because of a caching problem.

maybe if the folks of tpb can go back to http for both tpb and pirates-forums our ad blockers would work.

seeing that tpb will not revert back to http i will be using hidemyass proxy until i find a better option.

also there is a problem with the javascripts on pirates-forum.org that blocks the paste function so i have to turn off javascript to paste and turn it back on

i hope this helps you
