I've been using uTorrent and today I received an alert saying my media downloader was out of date and I needed to download the latest version. I'd never seen that before. Because of this I could not download any movies. I downloaded the latest version but have not installed after readings some other articles that MyMediaDownloader has malware that tracks your history and places ads in your browser. I'm new at this. Any suggestions? I want to be safe and until I install a new downloader I can't download any movies. Thanks. JBT

Fuck ditch the utorrent! Either use utorrent 2.2.1 or 2.0.1 (since they are quite old) if you don't like use Deluge, qBittorrent, Transmission.

Thanks Eddie. Yes I downloaded from the utorrent site. Seems the media downloader was a spam notification. I logged into utorrent later and downloads worked fine.

I switched to Qbittorrent a while back. I have the latest (v3.2.1), but it messes up on, old no longer supported, XP SP3 and needs to be restarted every day or so. I downloaded deluge, but have been too lazy to install it. I may even install uTorrent 2.2.1 since The_Abee mentioned the correct old versions to use and I was too lazy to search for them.

On Linux Qbittorrent is super..., on probably works great on all the contemporary Windows systems.

I use Transmission, but I have Linux Mint 17.2.

If you don't, just use Deluge or Tixati (http://www.tixati.com/)
