I agree with you oh so much! I'm in a beggars can't be choosers place since I dunno how to sync and duck and make it all work, but 2g seems extremely reasonable for any video file under 2hrs long. I can't understand why or how any end up over 5g. Crazy.

Speaking of beggars, i'm begging for a Rifftrax download thats ducked, and hopefuly x265. 8GB is nonsense on Mega as you must pay to download one file that size.

New here, but I thought I was the only one who thought 720 was sufficient for a RiffTrax movie. I've enjoyed more than a couple Joined-up RiffTrax movies from here. And I always buy the items from the RiffTrax catalog. But to echo another poster. 8 gigs for one movie? Yikes.
Also, to echo another another poster, is there an app or FFMpeg command line to make this a quick joining-up w audio ducking process? Or do you have to drag the pieces into Final Cut or Vegas or Premiere n stuff?

Generally, I agree. Don't need too fancy a video for riffing. As long as it isn't really terrible quality and the sound is ok

I usually wait for 1080p whenever I can and then re-encode it down to 2500 kbps if it's excessively large.

My personal encode from the blu-ray came out to about 4.4 GB. Same settings I always use for movies: x265, 20 CRF.
I have never found some kind of app, other than the official rifftrax app, that will just let you sync this up and duck the movie audio on the fly. I do my mixes in Adobe. I know that's beyond some people, which is why I like to share a pre-mixed audio track that you can drop onto the video file of your choice. That shouldn't be beyond anyone who can google.

I am in the same boat as you, but I am not going to look a gift-horse in the mouth and try to be patient as I can be. I am very grateful for everyone's contributions, even if I cannot understand why anyone would need such a high quality to watch such horrible films. All I need (personally) is to be able to see the basics of the film and hear the riffing clearly (most important).
I mean, if I had unlimited storage space, I might feel differently, but I have all sorts of other issues with the bigger files (ex. moving them to thumb drives becomes impossible because of FAT32, etc. and Firefox doesn't exactly love the big file formats either, even some 3gb-4gb films won't play on my mother's SmartTV now, etc.)... so I don't really do high quality files for even movies that are very important to me. If I can survive with a 2-4gb version of Come and See or Dersu Uzala, I can't say that I need a 6-8gb version of Night of the Lepus.
But to each his own. I am grateful to anyone contributing to the collection because for me a computer is mostly a typewriter with a display screen.

Not sure if this would be considered beating a dead horse or my 2 cents, but I think I'm just spoiled by the folks who can provide decent quality rips with mixed audio at manageable file sizes. I've done a few for myself and know that it takes time and effort. I appreciate everyone pitching in.
