installing windows 10 on SSD help needed
#1
Hi all, my Computers sata drive seems to be failing it runs windows 7 (genuine)  before it fails im thinking to either install a SSD in my pc underneath the sata drive  and use clonezilla ( free software ive not used before) to clone win7 and all my other software to the ssd , now will this work ? i mean will microsoft mess with me !!!!  i will end up with windows 7 on 2 drives at the same time so what will happen ? has anyone done this before ? ive heard microsoft can detect if 2 copies of same windows install are running and cause problems.

or plan B  i might use a copy of Windows 10 that has been pre activated and has Activators: Daz Loader v2.2.2.0 & KMS
( Both Activators Potential False Positive Virus Alarm ), and install that onto a new SSD and then do clean install of all my other software .antivirus, chrome broswer, bittorent, openvpn, vpncheck pro, etc etc ,

im reluctant to get win10 as i dont know how easy itll be to set up a VPN on it, ( currently i use Ipredator as my vpn provider with openvpn  software and then i use vpncheck pro to control the connection if i loose connection when away from pc etc, ) i dont know if ipredator have made good instructions on how to use their service on win10 and also i hear Microsoft is spying on us all even more than ever , sending back tons of info to their servers which is not ok !!

when i fit the ssd ill then install win10 to it..again will microsoft cause me problems by detecting 2 operating systems in my pc ??

will i be able to install all my other programmes to the ssd running win10 while i still use my sata drive © with win7 ???

thanks for any help, this is all quite a headache, i dont work in IT i just want free tv and movies : )

If your currently installed disk (HDD i presume?) is failing, I would not use it as base to clone.

Best would be to install a fresh windows on the new disk, and then copy over the files from the old hard drive, if you can connect it as a secondary disk, or as an external one.

About windows detecting 2 version of windows installed? It cant if you have cloned it, the new disk will just have the same information, but in that case the bios decided what disk to try to boot from first.
Now, if you had installed the 2nd version of windows instead, then yes, it will recoginse that a windows already exists, and if you dont select to overwrite the old windows. the new one will in most cases change the MBR (master boot record) of the disk that BIOS tried to boot from first (in most cases). This wont cause any problems unless it's on the same partition.

Even if one Windows detects (finds folders that belong to another Windows installation), it can't see if it's a legal copy or not, unless Windows magically knows the admin password for the old Windows (or you use the same passwords on your login accounts on both versions).

I dont use VPN, but I dont think ipredator will be any different from windwows 7 to windows 10, as long as it TCP/IP, and can allow for proxy/dns settings (these have looked almost the same since Windows 98).

This is what I would do:

1. Decide which Windows you want to use, and stick with it. Are you afraid Windows is snooping around? Use Windows 7. If you're like me and think it's hogwash, use Windows 10.
2. Install the SSD and make sure it's selected as main boot device in BIOS
3. If you have an external harddrive cabinett, I'd recommend using that instead, unless you wish to have the old disk in.
4. Install the new windows and patch it with whatever crack you wish. Unless you have a legal copy ofcourse.
5. Copy over all the files you wish to keep from the old disk to a new folder somewhere on the new disk
6a. Alot of programs dont need to be reinstall to run. mIRC (still needs the license to be re-applied in registry), uTorrent for example usually dont need to be reinstalled.
6b. Install all the programs that dont work
7. Update Windows if you're feeling dangerous. if you're on windows 7, and it complains that you dont have a legit key anymore, just re-apply DAZ loader with a new key or something.

yes an internal 2tb sata drive seems to have a problem ( for a couple of months its told me that it seems a bit slower than normal other than that im still using the pc ok) but i dont want to wait for it to really fail so due to boot up being quicker ill install a new SSD

im copying over files off the failing C drive to an external drive, all thatll be left on it is windows and all my other software ..which is quite a lot.

so with C drive still in i will fit the SSd then and install win10 to it , at that point should i use the activators and try to update it ? ( ill have win7 still on C , so when i update win10 on the ssd would Microsoft cause any problems ? ( you can tell im worried Microsoft will screw things up for me ! ) i think your right its time to jump to win10 before i get further behind lots of other people in using it ,

once ive got all the updates i can for win10 id then begin the slow process of installing all the other software i use .. antivirus, chrome, dvdfab, bittorent client, openvpn vpncheck pro,  all the plugins for browsers like java, flash, ghostery, adblocker, firefox even though its total crap now, google earth, ccleaner, roxio to burn dvds, itunes, winrar, vlc player, word, etc etc ..you get the point doing a fresh install will take me days to get everything back to where i need it , then ive got to learn to use win10 ( whatevers different to win7) , once i think ive got the SSD all set up and ive tried getting some torrents i think ill then remove the failing sata drive and never use it again .

you say step 7. Update Windows if you're feeling dangerous. !!  now i ran win xp for years that was a copy but still got updates, so i pray the win10 copy i got will keep getting updates, having had virus problems in the past one thing i do know is never use an unpatched copy of windows ! always get the monthly patches they release.

i dont use an external drive caddy, but i do use plenty of external harddrives for my downloads ! i dont download stuff to the main hard drive ©  incase 1 has a virus and wrecks the OS ! etc as im surewe all know reinstalling windows and then starting from scratch to reinstall all other software can take days to do.

anyway ill keep you informed as to how i get on in the coming few weeks when i get round to doing this

Can I install Windows 10 on SSD within the Windows 10 upgrade?

I bought a new SSD from Amazon, thinking that I can replace my old hard drive disk with an SSD when I upgrade my computer to Windows 10. But I don’t know how can I do it. Any positive suggestions? It’s really urgent!

Usually, there are two ways for you to install Windows one is upgrade to Windows 10 and another one is to clean install Windows 10. Even both of the two ways are efficient, the former one is recommended because it’s easier. But if you want to install Windows 10 on SSD, you might spend a little more efforts. You know, Windows 10 is only free if you are upgrading from previous Windows version. If you want a fresh installing, you should have a legit product key for the Windows 10. Otherwise, your best option would be clone system partition to SSD and upgrade to Windows 10 or upgrade to Windows 10 and transfer Windows 10 OS to SSD.

How to install Windows 10 on SSD

No matter you choose to get the old Windows system installed on the SSD and then upgrade your computer to Windows 10 or migrate the new Windows 10 partition to the new SSD after a successful Windows 10 upgrade, you need a partition manager. EaseUS partition tool is the one can help you install Windows 10 on SSD through these two ways with ease.

Download
Win Version
Step 1. Launch EaseUS Partition Master and navigate Wizard > Migrate OS to SSD/HDD from the main menu.

Step 2. Select SSD as destination disk.

Select SSD as destination disk to install Windows 10 on SSD

Step 3. Click Yes Delete partitions on the destination disk.

Delete partitions on SSD to install Windows 10

Step 4. Resize partition size and click OK .

Step 5. Click "Apply" to start Windows 10 migration from HDD to SSD.

You can use a downloaded ISO from generation2 or Team OS and they're both found in The Pirate Bay.
