avatars

In the cloaked pirate world we live in, our Avatar is what readers see when they take their time to read and digest our posts. Even more so than the content of the message, emphasis is given to the avatar.

I've done this myself, I've thought: " This Guy/Girl is interesting, the avatar he/she has makes me want to read their posts".

What do you think about avatars? What does your avatar say about you?

My brother Gh0ster set up a thread asking for you to pick his avatar, which got me thinking: Can we accurately figure someone out by what they put in their posts and what there avatars look like? Is your Avatar something  you pick because it's wholeheartedly believed in by you, or is it something as simple as : you didn't wanna be "that douche" without an avatar so you picked anything. My answer is YES & NO; we can’t figure out anyone from what they post or put as an avatar or post, since  people will LIE, BUT, we can make decisions on them based on logic. Avatar+post = general idea. No that anyone should really care, nor do I, but I do to an extent or I wouldn't have posted this... I LOVE the psychology of it all, that's all.

My favorite part of this pirate cloaked life ,aside from meeting new people/learning things/making connections, blah, blah, you get what I’m trying to say, is the picking of the avatar! The electronic presentation of oneself, which was created by that one with no outside interference whatsoever..  IRL we wear masks, but they can be interpreted a million different ways, and avatar, is what it is.

Better than a kid at Halloween picking out a costume, Metaphorically, we wear masks IRL as we live through our days and those masks can be changed or damaged by others (so to speak), but physically, we get to pick what those masks are here.

Who are you??  I'll go first to show you what I'm looking for:

I pick Angry Superman pics, or evil Superman/Kal-El pics as I want my inner spirit to be protected by someone who is imperishable, as I believe my soul to be.  But as godly any indestructible as you may see him, he's got issues. hence, the angry, or evil looking Kal-El. The angry shows my true mental issues. You may not believe it, but there was thought to my avatar. If you picked your avatar for no reason, other than it looked cool, that's cool, and I wanna hear it too. I know I read too much into shit, by my angry Superman, reflects how I feel... I think that's important for me.

Move this to the void if you feel it's a void thread, but I'm dropping the aidz for a second. Avatars always interested me, or, like I said, the psychology behind them moreso!

I just like sitting on my doghouse and writing immortal prose.

Dodgy

"Ban me now" pleas aside, it's actually a good question.

That is precisely the reason I don't have an avatar. The only thing I want people paying attention to is the content of the message.

Personally I think that is (or, rather, could be) one of the greatest things about the Internet--who you are is irrelevant. It doesn't matter if you're black/white, male/female, young/old, ugly-as-sin/drop-dead-gorgeous. Or whether you're a comic book fan a Metallica lover, or whatever. The only thing you should be judged on is what you contribute.

If I had my way, avatars would follow sigs into the dustbin.

Sid, you had an avatar for a long time, it was silly, but who cares.

Avatars are meaningless. They may give a minor insight into the actual person, but probably not.

For instance, LZA had superman as an avatar. There is noone more unlike superman than that.

Sid the admin has never had an avatar, i think you've confused him with that internet weirdo, sidbizkit.

An avatar is just an image, not an insight into an individual human being. I think the OP would find it beneficial to step back from their computer and spend some time outdoors. Guy, you think about avatars wayyy too much, seriously, it's a little bit disturbing that you wonder what a person is like just because you like their avatar or whatever. Jus sayin.
