After installing a codec pack on a Windows 7 Windows Media Player 12, I tested it. When I did, all of the files worked well, until I tried to open an MP4 file.
It says WMP has encountered an error and a web link barfs out the code C00D11B1. I did what the page told me as suggestions.
I did hear from other sources that Windows Media Player 12 does not support MP4 files, something which I cannot believe.
Tried installing codec A, didn`t work, tried another player (like Media Player Classic), the picture was spoiled by lines all of the place, I think I am going blond.
Any advice you throw at me will be appreciated.

UPDATE!
I fucking uninstalled WMP12 and vowed to not use it on this computer again! It's an abomination of Windows programs!
I revived my usage of Daum Potplayer.
Read more about it in an ealier post over here: https://pirates-forum.org/Thread-Your-Us...216#pid216
And thank you for the help, spud.

bob3965 will (hopefully) see your thread RX and show you the way, truth and light. BTW, .mp4 is the codec. What is the format?

From what I make of the link provided, MP4 is the format.
Quote:A format is a file container that holds one or more codecs – video, audio, or even data. The container format contains information about the video, audio, and data tracks that it holds. Some example container formats are mov (Quicktime), mp4, ogg, and avi.

MP4 would be the container format. What is the video or audio format thats in the mp4 container? You can get that info from MediaInfo - http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo
Then maybe someone could help you find the right codec. I'm trying to help, so i hope I 'm not going off course.

OK guys, I'm just going to use Potplayer for good. Tinkering with codec settings is becoming an eyesore. Potplayer, unlike WMP12, works with everything, and besides, Microsoft is dropping Windows Media Player for the rest of its sorry life.
Thanks for the ideas, but I'm giving it a miss.
