Good day
I have a Lenovo laptop that came with Windows 7 beginners pack and a Emachine laptop that came with Windows 7 Basic pack respectively.
The Lenovo laptop picked up a problem 3 months ago in that it wouldn't shut down and displayed the "Updating windows". So after waiting 2 days with no progress, I hard reset the laptop and when it loaded windows, it kept indicating the following errors "windowscodec.dll and d2d1.dll invalid or corrupt".
I tried to search a way of re-installing these files, but in the end I decided to back-up my emachine laptop as it had a better version of Windows 7.
I then installed the backed up copy to the Lenovo using a Windows repair disk.
Now my Lenovo laptop is indicated as being a "Emachine" and I've attached a copy of the display in Windows.
My problem is that my Lenovo was working fine for over a month, but suddenly Windows has picked up that there are two machines with the same Product Id and they want me to buy a new Product ID code.
I'd like to know if there is a way of generating a new Product ID code or bypassing this without having to re-install Windows 7?
I've downloaded the "Windows 7 All Editions" and If I can't come right with putting a new Product ID code, I will try and install this Windows 7 and HOPE that I won't get any other problems !!!
