You didn't look long enough I guess. And btw a dvd is sucky compared to a blu ray. You want the blu ray version I assume.
It depends on what size file you are willing to download. Generally, the bigger the file, the better the quality, but not always. I've found that a file of around 3-5Gb is pretty much indistinguishable from a blu ray. Most of the higher quality files are .mkv, or .x264 or .x265. But even an xvid file can be fantastic. It's sort of complicated, since a format and compression are 2 different things. Since video quality is so subjective, I'd suggest that you download several different files and see which you like best.

there's not much demand for untouched dvd because of the size/quality ratio. consequently, there's also less offer.

I would also point out that there are some exceptions I'd like to see: I've been looking for By The Sword (1991) for years. The only torrent I have found is a poor quality rip from DVD (1.4G). Maybe this is the quality as shown on the DVD. Everyone should know some DVDs are so poorly done (at time of transfer for manufacture) that they look like old VCR tapes. Still I find it suspicious given it's PAL at 368 (usually 576) and only 1.4G. I am hoping they will eventually release it on blu ray in glorious full 1080p with a good audio transfer. I'd also like to see a full DVD or full-DVD-quality rip of The Black Rose (1950), also not available on blu ray. There is a torrent but it claims 720p at only 942.47M (from a quality perspective--that's a joke). 720p at 6 to 8G would be in the minimum acceptable range (IMHO, and making a number of assumptions regarding someone taking the time to keep quality the priority). I mainly mention this one because at least someone put it up as an ISO at 4.7G in PAL (which IMHO *should* be reasonably close to the quality of the actual DVD). Thank you, Pioen

Adding to that list, I would like to see Robin Williams's Cadillac Man and the Blu-Ray versions of Star Trek serials Deep Space Nine and Voyager. I can't believe they are not released yet anywhere in the world.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
