Which is the best BD ripping & editing software?
#1
Hi all

Can anyone please recommend the best (in terms of user-friendliness and performance) Blu-ray movies ripping and editing software? Free or otherwise? I need to rip my BD movies collection for my own personal digital storage - very cumbersome to store all those BDs with cases.

Will much appreciate any recommendations.

Thanks

You have to get rid of that copy protection called "Cinavia."

This is tricky because even it's a requirement that Blu Ray players have this protection.

What this protection does is that it let the film last 20 minutes and then it will cut out the audio and display a message telling you to the disc is under Cinavia. Most media players will see through this, but Blu Ray players might not.

What I hear is that there is a program that kills the Cinavia protection, and that program is called "Cinex HD.": http://www.cinexhd.com/

You might want to visit that site and read the description. Finding out firsthand there is better than reading my posts as I strut and fret my hour upon the stage and is heard no more. Smile

Hope this helps.

EDIT: If you ask me though, I would just download them and keep the downloaded copies. But if you're feeling adventurous, do what I told you about CinexHD.

Hi RobertX

Thank you for the heads up about Cinavia.

Yes, you're right, the easiest option is to download ready-made files, but most of the ripped versions available online are compromised on quality to reduce file size - different rippers use different methods and you don't know what you're losing on. When I have the real thing with me, why not do it my way? Yes, I'd like to be a little adventurous and see what's it all about (curiosity  Tongue )

While Googling "BD ripping and editing software" - I came across these:

- AVCHD Editor - Free software to edit your AVCHD / Blu-Ray video
http://www.vso-software.fr/products/avch...editor.php
Seems to be a good one - but not sure how good it is

- EZR8 BDRip
http://ezr8-bdrip.en.softonic.com/
Looks even better - not sure if the version available is fully free and functional - Softonic though is a name that I have heard

- Acrok Video Converter Ultimate
http://www.acrok.com/video-converter-ultimate/
Free to try, $59.00 to buy - Looks very professional

- Aiseesoft Blu-ray Ripper
http://www.blurayripper.org/
Looks nice too

Any comments RobertX? forum members?

Best wishes

I would just recommend CinexHD. They may sound like a super scam, but as of now, since Blu-ray protection circumvention is still young these days, I would just recommend that program. In fact, it's a host of programs: a decrypter, a burner, and a converter.

However, I do not know much about the others to jump to conclusions, save only my current recommendation, although I have come to know and trust stuff from Aiseesoft.

What I hear is that if your TV has a USB port, you can put the ripped movie to your thumb drive and play it there. I can't confirm that, but if you have an HDTV with a USB port, try that.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: If you do want to try a combination of different software, try AnyDVD, a paid program that stands watch for DVD/Blu-Ray decryption, and Handbrake, an open source program that can rip unprotected DVDs (without a decrypter). If you mix AnyDVD with Handbrake, you can have a chance, but you don't know that until you try first.

Good luck.
