I haven't been on IRC in years. It used to be easy just download a copy of mIRC an cut and paste the serial.
Is that still possible or are there better today?

There are prettier clients out there but if you're familiar with mIRC it is still the client.

Using AdiIRC, got tired of mIRC lol, and AdiIRC supports MSL like a charm, so I can play a little with it heh, but yeah, mIRC is still easily cracked, just patch and paste a serial.

I'm on mIRC too and I love it. although the trial date is set to expire, then I guess I'll have to uninstall/reinstall to get the 30 days back. There's got to be an easier way...

I'm not sure what you did when you installed it LZA, but you shouldn't have to renew it. Methinks you made a pasting error (did the same thing myself when I first installed mIRC).... I'll catch you on one of the chans about it.

I prefer multi-messenger programs, like Miranda IM ( http://www.miranda-im.org/) and Pidgin ( http://www.pidgin.im/). These bitches function with many known messenging protocols out there. Before you ask, yes, they both connect to IRC servers and channels just like ICQ,
One thing that I haven't researched on, though, is the way each one handles DCC file transfers. However, if no one here makes requests to test in any fashion, then I will not be in any rush; I'll do it at my own time. Besides no one sets up fileservers there any more.
I hope you will find this information meets to your satisfaction.
