It's pretty cool but, i wouldn't call it the best use for 3D printers.

Scientists recently figured out how to print food, organs and body tissues.

redundant. Wink

i can't wait until some patent troll sues that kid and his old man for the unauthorized use of the so claimed proprietary technology used in creating his hand.

...might result in the first legal execution of patent troll. future's looking pretty bright.

It means we won't have to rely on "real" food to survive.
It could possibly solve world hunger.

they can use cultured cells from organic material and layer them into edibles with the printers that you can eat...

like a fillet of olivia munn... yum! i wouldn't even bother cooking it because you know it's going to be absolutely delicious raw.

it doesn't end there, my friend... oh no... the sky's the limit!

but, mostly for tangible stuff like solid non-consumables, the tech is pretty much growing by leaps and bounds every day. at this year's world cup, some company is going to demonstrate a prothesis that connects to a human nervous system which will cost quite a bit to purchase. with a 3d printer, the cost is significantly reduced as prototyping and fabricating can be done remotely and digitally using cad and rendering software.

not a troll - just an innocent question.
Then the "food" already exists at the printer location.
The printer is then forming, shaping, colouring..
Olivia Munn-ifying it, if you will.

Printiing food will not only eliminate world hunger, it will save a lot of animals.

I would say that in the States or Europe, at least, there will be sanctions held by the government for these patents.
