Hello!
My antivirus program warned me about a virus called "JS:MinerCoinHive-N [Trj]" and blocked me when I tryed to enter The Pirate bay. Is there anybody who can do something about this?

Its not a virus, its TPBs XMR coin miner. Harmless but blockable by most javasxript blockers like NoScript, and adblockers as well.
I've never seen it.
Most AV software is garbage, as it will make downloading software here a lving hell, as it typically flags anything resembling a crack or a keygen, while at the same time blithely letting Zero Day exploits slip by. Some can take a year or so to be detected. Some never.
Hint: Dont ever download anything from a first time poster with hundreds of posts in a day. No matter what the AV says. And older stuff: test in a sandbox.
With enough hard earned experience you can spot and kill boogers without any AV or firewalls.

People use anti-virus in 2018? Why not just run a secure OS?

Because the only secure system is a disconnected old hardened machine in a bunker. Few people want that.

If one is content with computing lite (equivalalent to eating at a fast food restaurant), good for them. Personally, I like having a rich selection of apps to choose from (think Golden Corral buffet), which is what I get with the fully featured Windows OS and abundant cracked software. If you know what you're doing, you don't have problems.

It mines cryptocurrency for the site owners to make them some money. It sucks for laptop/phone users, not a huge deal for people on desktops / at wall power where CPU cycles aren't exactly a limited resource. You can whitelist the site for your anti-virus then install an adblocker if this type of thing worries you.
