Upgrading to Mavericks

I am looking to upgrade to mavericks from OS X 10.6.8, I can't get mavericks to download from the app store. So i was wondering is there any possible downside to using a torrent from TPB of mavericks or am I literally downloading the same installer I would be from the app store?

If you aren't seeing that as an option in the App store, it could be that your hardware doesn't support it.

If your hardware isn't listed here, it probably won't install:

http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/

That said, the torrent version should be identical to the app store installer.
