To encoders: Please go back to AVI container
#1
New DVD releases have been using different combinations for AVI which is not supported by first gen DVDS with USB. Even uploaders say this is not real MPEG-4.

Here´s the example of what I´m talking about.

Not able to see this:
https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/2952121...iD.AC3-EVO
https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3358317...iD.AC3-EVO[TGx]

I just can´t play Matroshka or AVC "AVI".

Able to see this:
https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/2888497...iD.AC3-EVO
https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/2427272...iD.AC3-EVO

My family and I have old school DVDs with USB support (AVI/MPEG4 only) no BluRays. This is our main entertainment on the weekends.

I ask this because the main purpose of TPB is to share something not everybody can in a different way. But this has been an issue since early 2019 imo.

Gotta say I do support some actors and directors when I can, I go to the theater from time to time, last one was John Wick 3: Parabellum, but I can´t afford every film, and I love films just like many people do.

I´m pretty sure this is an issue for many people around the globe, I´m not speaking for myself.

So please encoders, can you go back to the old format? Your work is really appreciated in TBP but why limit the reach of these movies? I hope somebody can see this.

Regards.

I dont get why you just don't hookup a laptop or pc to your tv and play the movies using vlc player? I don't get why anyone would burn the pirated movies to a dvd let alone expect pirate bay to change in such a silly way to accommodate them.

Laugh all you want but I don't own a laptop. I visit my family and bring the movies on the USB drive. If I had a laptop I wouldnt take It out for this since there's a lot of robbers on the bus. Not practical anyway. I don't have a DVD burner either and I don't want to create more garbage in this world. USB is ok for playing movies on DVD player.

And I already said encoders were using native AVI not so long ago. I don't know why they changed this. There's no visible difference. I'm guessing they save time/space with AVC/Matroshka combinations when encoding. Guess I'm screwed then. I'll have to wait for ETRG release and he can't keep up with everything.

Guess I sound like an entitled little boy but we already had a native format that worked fine and looked good (AVI/MPEG-4). Not everyone lives on a first world country and is able to afford what you recommend. This is why we use TPB anyway.

Ok, now I understand what you need, being myself a unemployed 3rd Worlder in a country - soon to move to a better place.

Likewise, the torrent releasers (encoders/uploaders) like to move to new technologies, like fashion shirts. It's "rich people's hobbie" after all, and new formats like HE265 or any "the next big thing" will eventually catch on.

So what you can do is to reencode to a format you can use on that player, using any popular video converter software; results will be even worse than the cam rip and you'll have to waste some good time on trial-and-error adjusts, but most encoders won't change their methods, sadly. OR, use a smartphone / portable player, if you can conceal it safe enough not to be robbed. I myself avoid taking my smartphone out of the house as much as I can.

Folks that use Plex Media Servers also have trouble, sometimes. Yes, VLC always works...

I wasn't laughing I was just confused by the situation. Is getting a raspberry pi 3b an option? They're very good at handling all my 4k mkv files. You should be able to get them dirt cheap as pi4 just came out or get that.

@duedaOk: Thanks for the explanation. Yes, you´re right, H.265 is already there and I can see the advantages of It. 1 episode of Fear the walking dead (41 minutes) is only 169 MB, that´s the half of the AVI release. But the question remains uncertain of why are they using mixed containers claiming It´s AVI for the new DVD releases like the HC Brightburn 2019 movie.

Let´s put It this way and I know you´ll understand this "concern". If we had to put this on a balance which is better? New encoding tech = less time download but less native support on DVD/USB players around the globe VS Standard encoding tech = More download time but more native support on DVD/USB players around the globe.

I don´t think people on the most poor countries is gonna have access to H.265, MKV, H.264 support on their DVDs, and I know this sounds really stupid but wasnt TPB a site for the people that are not able to consume certain stuff?

I always read this lame excuse of some people in other forums: "They´re not primary necessities". They may be right but I can´t live without cinema.

If It´s really a "Rich people´s hobby" they should keep in mind which is the best for a large community of TPB consumers around the globe.

I wrote a wall text here, my bad, but I really liked your answer. I know you understand my point of view and I´m pretty sure there´s people around there that are a bit dissapointed about this issue.

Regards.

I got carried away, my bad. I modified my post, I´m talking about standalone DVD players with USB/MPEG4 support. That´s what we own.

Raspberry is around 50 dollars without case here, not a good deal due to dollar exchange. Only programmers and entrepreneurs use them here.

No worries. There should be deals for used one and once setup it will blow away what you had before.

Altair1911, if it makes you feel any better, I don't use H265 either.

My computer, this one, at least, is a Pentium 4 2.8GHz, and will play 720p MKV/MP4 at the most. That's all it can do.

And yes, I burn stuff to DVD.

Legacy stuff FTW!

Hey Robert. I´m impressed that your computer can handle 720p MKV. We had a Pentium 4 @2.4GHZ with a dedicated 64MB AGP Graphics card on Windows XP and we couldnt play MKV. My brother still has that AGP graphics card on Windows 7 with a Dual Core Pentium but It BSOD when trying to play any video file and can´t keep up with 720p/60FPS on youtube. Away from that It works fine. Most Legacy stuff can do better than expected, It´s the damn lack of drivers that mess everything.

I don´t burn stuff anymore. When those DVD/USB players came out I stopped. I don´t wanna create trash anymore but i feel ya bud.

Legacy FTW!
