I downloaded every quality file of the Night of the Living Dead Live VOD just to see how everything actually stacks up, the resolution and bitrates for each size are as follows -

(Length of 1:55:06)

Legacy (450MB) - 320x240 at a bitrate of 415kbps
Low (755MB) - 640x360 at a bitrate of 752kbps
Med (1.33GB)- 640x360 at a bitrate of 1501kbps
High TV (2.16GB) - 720x480 at a bitrate of 2502kbps
HD Low (1.36GB) - 1280x720 at a bitrate of 1501kbps
HD Med (2.16GB) - 1280x720 at a bitrate of 2496kbps
HD High (12.2GB) - 1920x1080 at a bitrate of 14995kbps

There's really no reason to download anything lower than HD Med unless you're going to be playing it back on a potato.

I'd love to see their customer metrics on how many people actually download encodes lower than High TV. It's very weird but you'd assume there has to be some people doing it, otherwise it wouldn't exist, though that number has to have really dropped over the years since people would watch TV shows on their iPods.

I know their web guy on the RiffTrax subreddit said something about redoing the video quality offerings a few years back, but I haven't heard anything since then.

I think a lot of that had to do with getting rid of the old MPEG/Divx/WMV files where they could and replace it with High TV mp4 files, though they've only done that on some. It seems like something just kind of pops up as updated every once in a while, pretty much all old shorts.

Why would you want a worse, lower-res copy that's the same file size as the HD Medium?
