TPM

Does anyone here have at least TPM 1.2 on their computers?

Does it restrict anything?

I am looking for ways to upgrade to Windows 11 without this.

Why?

What particular advantage does 11 have?

Other than try to force you into a hardware upgrade cycle and monthly rents for your desktop?

The RED PILL, Bob, The RED pill!

That said, are the TPB 11 releases using something like KMS for the BIOS check. There are BIOS hacks for other Ring 0 korporate krap, but I havent used them. On this machine TPM was an option, and can be (and is) turned off.

Restrictive?
TPM is designed to prevent running software or services that the masters disapprove of.

Look on Youtube. There's a way to change the registry when installing to bypass TPM and Secure Boot.

Secure Boot doesn't even need to be bypassed to my knowledge. The TPM requirement however is demanded, and if you have an slightly-over-budget intel process from at least 2015, then you should be able to run firmware TPM.

I used this torrent, and have Win11 Pro now on 8 yr old Lenovo

Just so I know, is that copy self-activated?

Don't worry, you don't have to lie.

You're not being very clear as to what you are actually wanting to do

Do you have a motherboard with TPM 1.2 and you want win 11 on this system?

I've got win 11 pro installed on a new z690 build and it's using the 'software tpm' that is a new thing that can come built into motherboards instead of a physical chip thingy.
I didn't know they existed until customer support told me... I have only been using win 11 pro for a week or two but I've had zero problems from the tpm etc.

I've installed lots of torrents just fine.... however with win 10/11 etc they became more aggressive in trying to auto detect any torrent like software in windows and they try to prevent you installing it.B
But it's paper thin - you just disable windows defender and or av if you need to while you install it.  Unless you really need it - disable your internet while installing torrents too.

But obviously scan your files first before you install them and disable stuff.

When you're done installing - just turn it all back on.
You may need to add a firewall exception sometimes but thats about all.

Just trying to prevent TPM-checking, that's all.

You said in the other post that you bought a cheap key. I think I'll do the same.

Just tell me one thing: does the Windows 11 key you bought send you anything through the mail, or does the key come through the e-mail?

Thanks.

EDIT: Well, in hindsight, I think that a legit Windows 11 key is irrelevant to the solution. I was trying to prevent a TPM check from a Windows 11 installer. Whether a key is legit or not, it won't affect the way it looks at a computer.

I'll keep looking.

Thank you for your input, FloodTheWaves.

EDIT: LangPaal, can you link the description of that torrent here and not the Magnet link? I just need to read about that torrent. Thanks!

Hey dude

Honestly, I really think you are worry about something that just is not a problem at all.

I have a Z690 Gigabyte Aorus Pro DDR4 motherboard on a brand new 12th gen build.
That mobo has the latest Software TPM built into the mobo.

I have a legit 'grey market' key that worked successfully so win 11 pro is fully activated and legit (ish).

Despite all that - you can still turn off whatever security stuff you want (mostly - except tpm unless you use a modified win install I think)
I even install torrents just fine (just turn off windows defender and av and internet [unless needed] )

So seriously man - you are worrying about something that is a total non issue.
My advice is to just let it go and install Win 11 Pro and enjoy your pc.

BTW I bought my key from here - the site is down for maintenance but this looks ike the right link
Server Maintenance (cjs-cdkeys.com)

I received a Win 11 Pro RETAIL key - which was a huge relief cause that's what i wanted.
NOTE that it is an OEM so it'll only ever work on that mobo.

But if you have a pc you are gonna use for 3-10+ years that should be fine...
you'll prolly want to upgrade to a newer windows in the future anyway.

I can't guarantee you won't have any issues buying the key but mine was smooth as.

when you get it you can check it's the version you wanted in windows

Open Command Prompt on elevated privileges.

Execute the following command:
slmgr /dli

Should tell you the version and retail or a bulk key etc

I'm not affiliated with the company - just bought a key for myself.

Just follow the instructions - I used a prepaid visa debit card from the supermarket (MAKE SURE YOU PAY WITH CASH SO ITS NOT TIED TO YOU)
And I tied it to an email I set up solely for anonymous stuff like this and paying for a vpn etc.

I paid, then on the site they have an 'autokey' thing... press a button and it shows your key

Go to win 11 and activate it - then use the above to check what you got.

If you didn't get what you wanted - just email the company.  I've heard some say they are pretty good about fixing things?

Anyway - forget about the tpm stuff - it's not important at all.
Doesn't stop you from using torrents or whatever you want to do.

Hope that helps.

OK, thanks!

By the way, would you ever consider paying Microsoft full price for a legit key?
